A 54-year old man now prosecuted for hate speech after holding up a handwritten sign with the words "Holoxaust is a Zionist political weapon do not believe the 6 million myth" at the entrance to Ica Maxi in Enköpingsvägen.
Unlike many other European countries, Sweden has no specific laws against denying the Holocaust.Prosecutor Pontus Melander stated, however, the man has been guilty of hate speech by having "spoken disparagingly of Jews as referring to ethnic origin or creed."
The message was spread as charged by the placard placed at a location where many people pass. The 54-year-old, who is a citizen of Finland and active blogger denied the offences but admits that he put up the placard. He states that the purpose was to create a political debate.
