The result of greedy bastards and government 'Green' taxes: British Gas hikes bills by 9.2%

British Gas is hiking energy bills by an eye-watering 9.2 per cent, it announced today. The increase is 8.4 per cent on gas and 10.4 per cent on electricity from November 23. But the rises are just averages – some customers will face considerably higher bill rises.

The rise is on top of another inflation-busting increase of 6.4 per cent last year, which added around £80 to household bills. The move comes just days after energy giant SSE dealt customers a crippling blow by hiking prices by 8.2 per cent just in time for winter when households use the most gas and electricity.

The remaining four big energy suppliers are expected to follow suit in the next few days, leaving millions with spiraling costs just before the cold winter months.

[Lying bastard] Ian Peters, Managing Director of British Gas Residential Energy, said:
’I know these are difficult times for many customers and totally understand the frustration that so many household costs keep on rising when incomes aren’t keeping pace.
‘We haven’t taken this decision lightly, but what’s pushing up energy prices at the moment are costs that are not all directly under our control, such as the global price of energy, charges that we have to pay for using the national grid that delivers energy to the home, and the cost of the Government’s social and environmental programmes.’
