The recommendation that children as young as 12 should be taught ‘responsible betting’ in school will strike many people as some kind of bad joke. GamCare, the support body for gambling addicts, has told a government review of personal, social and health education that pupils should be taught that studying the form of race horses, dogs and sports teams can improve chances of winning a bet. It also said schoolchildren should learn about fruit machines and how to calculate betting odds.
Such a recommendation is almost beyond belief. How can betting ever be anything other than irresponsible? And what possible justification can there be for teaching this to children in school?
The Labour Party has welcomed GamCare’s grotesque proposal (of course) on the basis that it would help prepare children for the adult world. Whatever next — teaching children the responsible use of prostitution to help prepare them for the adult world?
Surely any responsible preparation must mean learning there is certain behaviour that is off-limits because it is intrinsically dangerous and harmful. Alas, GamCare’s proposal is not some aberrant rush of blood to the head, but part of a more general pattern.

New York - In October, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department turned parts of the campus of the University of California in Berkeley into an urban battlefield. The occasion was Urban Shield 2011, an annual SWAT team exposition organized to promote "mutual response," collaboration and competition between heavily militarized police strike forces representing law enforcement departments across the United States and foreign nations.
At the time, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department was preparing for an imminent confrontation with the nascent "Occupy" movement that had set up camp in downtown Oakland, and would demonstrate the brunt of its repressive capacity against the demonstrators a month later when it attacked the encampment with teargas and rubber bullet rounds, leaving an Iraq war veteran in critical condition and dozens injured. According to Police Magazine, a law enforcement trade publication, "Law enforcement agencies responding to…Occupy protesters in northern California credit Urban Shield for their effective teamwork."
Training alongside the American police departments at Urban Shield was the Yamam, an Israeli Border Police unit that claims to specialize in "counter-terror" operations but is better known for its extra-judicial assassinations of Palestinian militant leaders and long record of repression and abuses in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip. Urban Shield also featured a unit from the military of Bahrain, which had just crushed a largely non-violent democratic uprising by opening fire on protest camps and arresting wounded demonstrators when they attempted to enter hospitals. While the involvement of Bahraini soldiers in the drills was a novel phenomenon, the presence of quasi-military Israeli police – whose participation in Urban Shield was not reported anywhere in US media – reflected a disturbing but all-too-common feature of the post-9/11 American security landscape.
The Israelification of America’s security apparatus, recently unleashed in full force against the Occupy Wall Street Movement, has taken place at every level of law enforcement, and in areas that have yet to be exposed. The phenomenon has been documented in bits and pieces, through occasional news reports that typically highlight Israel’s national security prowess without examining the problematic nature of working with a country accused of grave human rights abuses. The NDAA cuts Pentagon spending by $43 billion from last year’s budget, a number so insignificant when compared to the $662 billion still (officially) allocated, it is almost laughable.
The bill also contained an amendment which enacts strict new sanctions on Iran’s Central Bank and any entities that do business with it, a move which will likely have brutal repercussions for the Iranian people – just like the sanctions on Iraq did.
Not a single Senator voted against this amendment, which was voted on soon before the entirety of S.1867 was passed, despite the hollow threats of a veto from the Obama White House.

Every NHS hospital patient will be given a barcoded wristband to reduce the risks of mix-ups and mistakes.

The barcodes, which will be read by handheld scanners, are to be issued to patients from October neaxt year under the orders of the Information Standards Board (ISB) for Health and Social Care.
By next April trusts have must plans on how they will implement the change-over. The ISB is imposing the rule to cut down on the number of avoidable errors like patients being given the wrong medication.
Studies show they can stop such administrative errors by 42 per cent, according to Franck Riout of Zebra Technologies, which makes barcoding systems for NHS trusts. Peter Walsh, chief executive of the campaign group Action Against Medical Accidents, said: "It's a good move. Patient misidentification is a recurring problem and there is a need for more consistency with wristbands across the NHS. Having the same procedures in every NHS hospital will prevent a number of avoidable incidents from causing harm and even worse."
The Patients Association also welcomed them - although the pressure group was a little concerned patients could end up feeling like products rather than people. Katherine Murphy, its chief executive, said:
"Looking for new and innovative ways to improve patient safety should be a top priority for all healthcare providers. The introduction of these barcoded wristbands could improve patient safety by making sure that mistakes do not happen. However, care must be taken to ensure they do not become a barrier to communication with patients. We do not want to end up in a situation where patients are scanned like an item in a supermarket. Healthcare professionals using these barcoded wristbands should make sure that they make every effort to talk to the patient and treat them with the respect that all people deserve.”
The project, originally proposed by the Department of Health and the National Patient Safety Authority in 2007, has been put back several times. The original deadline set by the ISB was July 2011.
The UK and US militaries have been developing new biological weapons which are capable of terminating certain races, a Middle East expert tells Press TV.
“They (the US and UK military establishments) even developed a black-only bomb that targeted the Afro gene. There is even talk now that there may be one for the Chinese gene,” Peter Eyre, a Middle East consultant, said in a recent interview with Press TV.
Eyre described the sinister project as “absolutely insane,” adding the work on such weaponry initially started in former Rhodesia [modern day Zimbabwe] by the UK government, but was then transferred to South Africa [by then UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher] when the former British colony declared independence.
The analyst went on to say that the US and UK have not only amassed a huge stockpile of biological and chemical weapons but also provided dictatorial regimes around the world to use and develop such lethal weapons.
“The United States, the United Kingdom…were behind providing Iraq Saddam Hussein with chemical and biological warfare [during Iran-Iraq conflict]…The UK actually paid for the laboratories to be established [in Iraq] and helped them (the former Iraqi regime) produce that,” Eyre said.
Ralph Schoenman, a California-based political commentator, also told Press TV that the Pentagon has also been weaponizing genomes viral agents in level 4 and level 5 laboratories in the US.
Schoenman further stated that such weapons are either sold to repressive regimes or are deployed in operations against countries Washington wants to destabilize.
The Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), which prohibits the development, production, stockpiling and use of chemical weapons, called on member states to destroy all stockpiles of banned substances by April 29, 2007.
However, the US has announced that it will not be able to destroy its stockpile of chemical weapons before a final deadline required by the CWC in 2012, saying it needs at least another decade to destroy its chemical weapons.
According to the CWC's directive, any country found to be in non-compliance will have to be referred to the United Nations Security Council.
Schoenman said, however, that the US has no intention of eliminating these weapons and such talk on the US part is simply propaganda.
"There is not a scintilla of evidence to suggest that the US military indents to dispose of this weaponry; on the contrary, it is escalating its supply," he added.

Our debt is now over 15 trillion dollars. If you can believe it, the U.S. government has not been operating under an approved budget for over 900 days. More Americans fell into poverty last year than ever before. More Americans are on food stamps than ever before. An average of 23 manufacturing facilities were shut down every single day in the United States last year. According to one recent report, only 7 percent of Americans that lost their jobs during the recession have “made it back” to where they were before the recession. So perhaps Barack Obama should spend more time doing his job rather than taking extended vacations.

What would Americans say if they found their polling stations and certain political parties entirely infiltrated by Chinese money, Chinese observers, and Chinese-backed candidates promoting China's interests in an AMERICAN election? The New York Times in its article, "U.S. Groups Helped Nurture Arab Uprisings," clearly stated as much when it reported, "a number of the groups and individuals directly involved in the revolts and reforms sweeping the region, including the April 6 Youth Movement in Egypt, the Bahrain Center for Human Rights and grass-roots activists like Entsar Qadhi, a youth leader in Yemen, received training and financing from groups like the International Republican Institute, the National Democratic Institute and Freedom House, a nonprofit human rights organization based in Washington."
The Times would continue by explaining, "the Republican and Democratic institutes are loosely affiliated with the Republican and Democratic Parties. They were created by Congress and are financed through the National Endowment for Democracy, which was set up in 1983 to channel grants for promoting democracy in developing nations. The National Endowment receives about $100 million annually from Congress. Freedom House also gets the bulk of its money from the American government, mainly from the State Department."
These same NGOs have also just recently played a central role in Myanmar, blocking the construction of a mega-dam that would have begun the development of the nation's rural areas, provided electricity for export and domestic use, and help irrigate surrounding agricultural land. These NGOs are currently creating a social divide in Thailand to subvert an 800-year-old independent political institution that has for centuries weathered Western encroachment. There is also documented evidence of these NGOs attempting to destabilize the government of Malaysia and reinstall IMF minion Anwar Ibrahim back into power.

As alleged ties emerge between Germany's far-right National Democratic Party (NPD) and a murderous neo-Nazi terror cell, a growing chorus of politicians are calling for a ban on the party -- and fast.
"The NPD-ban needs to happen now," Saxony-Anhalt state governor Reiner Haseloff told daily Bild on Friday, adding that there was little doubt as to the organization's unconstitutionality. "That they have maintained contact with the militant scene seems evident to me. In short: a confident, watchful democracy must deal with this threat."
The renewed talk of an NPD ban is the result of Tuesday's arrest of former NPD official Ralf Wohlleben, who is suspected of providing a gun for a trio of neo-Nazis who are thought to have murdered nine people of foreign origin and a policewoman. Police allege that 36-year-old Wohlleben was an accessory to six of the killings.
The case of the so-called Zwickau cell, named after the town where the group lived, has shocked Germans and brought "shame" to the nation, Chancellor Angela Merkel has said. Their alleged connection to the NPD, which holds seats in the state parliaments of Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the east, could now be instrumental for advocates of banning the party.
Ole Schröder, a senior Interior Ministry official and member Merkel's conservative Christian Democrats, says that the alleged role of former NPD official Wohlleben in the case is decisive. "The investigators must now analyze whether Wohlleben was involved in the Zwickau terror cell intrigues on order from the NPD, or with the party's knowledge," he told daily Hamburger Abendblatt on Friday. "Was it an action by a party or an individual crime -- this question will be decisive in the debate over an NPD ban."
Last Ban Attempt Failed
The discovery of the Zwickau cell in early November immediately resurrected calls for a ban on the NPD, but many have been skeptical. A bid to prohibit the party in 2003 was rejected by Germany's Federal Constitutional Court due to the presence of police informants in senior NPD positions. The court ruled that it could not ban the party due to the risk that its policies had in part been shaped by law enforcement agents.
Legal experts have suggested that the German Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the country's domestic intelligence agency, would have to pull out all of its informants before a second ban was attempted. Indeed, the parliamentary advocate for the first bid in 2003, law professor Günter Frankenberg, says he is skeptical. "There is a risk that a new proposal to ban the NPD would fail," he told daily Die Welt.

The City of London Police force was facing criticism last night after including the Occupy London demonstration in a letter warning businesses about potential terrorist threats.
The letter, a "Terrorism/Extremism Update", lists al-Qa'ida, the Colombian dissidents Farc, and Belarusian terrorists who bombed the Minsk underground. It also lists Occupy London under the heading "Domestic".
It states: "It is likely that activists aspire to identify other locations to occupy, especially those they identify with capitalism. City of London Police has received a number of hostile reconnaissance reports concerning individuals who would fit the anti-capitalist profile. All are asked to be vigilant regarding suspected reconnaissance, particularly around empty buildings."
An Occupy London spokesman said: "Activism is not a crime and the desire to participate in democratic decision-making should not be a cause for concern for the police in any free society.
“An institution that confuses active citizens with criminals and equates al-Qa'ida with efforts to reimagine the city is an institution in danger of losing its way."
A police source said the letter was authentic but was poorly worded and never meant to imply demonstrators posed a terrorist threat.
Downing Street slapped down Iain Duncan Smith today, ruling out a referendum on Britain's relationship with Europe. David Cameron's spokesman said the Work and Pensions Secretary was wrong to say there should be a nationwide vote if there is any treaty change in Europe.
France and Germany are expected to unveil plans later today for a treaty change to prop up the euro. But No 10 insisted it would not involve a transfer of powers from Westminster to Brussels.
The put down came as German chancellor Angela Merkel and French president Nicolas Sarkozy entered a working lunch to draw up a blueprint for a fiscal union.
It is expected to mean a wholesale rewrite of EU treaties. While the pair differ on some of the details, their cooperation has been so tight they have come to be known by a single name - Merkozy. The two agree overall on the need for tougher, enforceable rules that would prevent governments from spending or borrowing too much - and on certain penalties for persistent violators.
But there is a big bone of contention. Merkel wants changes to the European treaties that would give unprecedented power to Brussels to scrutinise national budgets. Sarkozy, however, wants to limit treaty changes to just the eurozone members and retain more budget authority in national capitals.
The plans being discussed between Merkel and Sarkozy favour a 'fiscal union' between the 17 countries that have the euro as their currency. This means tax and spending policy could be set from Brussels for all members of the euro.
For Britain and other non-euro countries, this means being locked out of the inner core of countries, creating a so-called ‘two-speed’ Europe. While Brussels would not be able to dictate British taxes, the massive change in the way Europe operates and the policies it sets as a bloc could have huge knock-on effects in areas such as trade, immigration and business.
For example, the inner core could loosen immigration controls which could mean bad consequences for Britain as even higher numbers of migrants could then move here after getting a foothold in mainland Europe.
Or conversely, if a financial transactions tax, the so-called Tobin Tax, was imposed on the 17 within the euro, it would be a great boost to the City as financial institutions would be more likely to set up in London.
The Irish Taoiseach last night revealed tough new austerity measures including hiking VAT to 23 per cent in a bid to save €3.8billion.
Enda Kenny has pledged to get Ireland's budget deficit under an EU limit of 3 per cent of GDP by 2015 and said this budget would be the toughest in a four-year run of belt-tightening.
The proposals are expected to include rises in indirect taxes - including a 2 per cent hike in VAT, increases in excise duty, cuts in social welfare and reduced child benefit. It comes after Italy's cabinet yesterday passed its own series of swingeing cuts and tax hikes as it strives to shore up the country's strained finances.
Mr Kenny made a televised address to the nation last night - the first by a prime minister since 1986 - and warned of tough times ahead. He said:
'I would love to tell you tonight that our economic problems are solved, that the worst is over. But for far too many of you, that is simply not the truth.' However he added: 'You are not responsible for the crisis.'
But Mr Kenny was accused of double standards for allegedly pushing through pay rises for his political cronies. The Irish Mail on Sunday revealed that the Taoiseach personally approved a €35,000 pay rise for former key strategist Ciarán Conlon, despite the objections of ministers Michael Noonan and Brendan Howlin.

"The police on line hate reporting does not seem to work the same with us as it does when it is used against us! The Metropolitan Police have rang me 7 times now since I reported this crime yesterday.
Today they have told me there has been a "lot of people reporting the same crime" but the Met's software will not allow them to look at YouTube! They also tell me that they can go no further in this unless I contact Cumbria Police and make an official statement.
Other members have also reported the same attitude from the Police. So here we have hundreds of people reporting threats to kill a white child and her mother made by a black person and as yet the Metropolitan Police have not even looked at the evidence and refuse to even START the investigation 24 hours after the first reporting of a crime.
I wonder if those reporting Emma, for her angry words on the Tram, had to fight through this PC blockade to have her arrested, charged and remanded???

Dear Patriot, everyone has seen the video of the girl on the tram in London this week, but were you aware that the girl, a young mother, has been remanded in custody for her angry words? It takes a lot to shock me these days, but for the Gestapo to trace, arrest and actually remand this girl in custody is, quite frankly, beyond belief.
Let me put this into context for our readers:
Earlier this year I was at the demonstration in Bolton outside a court where a gang of Muslim paedophile rapists were on trial for the systematic gang rape of white children as young as 11. Most of the defendants were on bail, and, more shockingly, the ring leaders applied for and were granted bail and released, free to carry on their horrific crimes.

Lee Crutchfield, a black male in St. Louis, admitted to beating the six year old son of his white live in girlfriend. He is defiant and blames the six year old. He told police that the six year old racially abused him.
In a video interrogation played in court, Crutchfield at first repeatedly told police he “had no dealings with Ryon” in the days before the death. Then, a fuller picture emerged.
Crutchfield described how Ryon was a difficult child who often hurled racial insults at him. Crutchfield is black, the boy’s mother is white.
“I can’t stand to be around a child that is disrespectful,” Crutchfield told police. He alleged that the boy would fake seizures and urinate all over the house. The boy was given a diaper and often locked in a closet, police said.
Crutchfield said he punched Ryon twice in the head because the boy was biting his finger about two days before he was found dead.
Ryon died from blunt force trauma, prosecutors said. A former Cahokia police officer broke down crying in court when shown a photo of the dead child.

Suddenly the struggle to stop Iran is not about saving Israel from nuclear annihilation. After a decade of scare-mongering about the second coming of Nazi Germany, the Iran hawks are admitting that they have other reasons for wanting to take out Iran, and saving Israeli lives may not be one of them. Suddenly the neoconservatives have discovered the concept of truth-telling, although, no doubt, the shift will be ephemeral.
The biggest problem for the United States is not Iran getting a nuclear weapon and testing it, it's Iran getting a nuclear weapon and not using it. Because the second that they have one and they don't do anything bad, all of the naysayers are going to come back and say, "See, we told you Iran is a responsible power. We told you Iran wasn't getting nuclear weapons in order to use them immediately." ... And they will eventually define Iran with nuclear weapons as not a problem.
Hold on. The "biggest problem" with Iran getting a nuclear weapon is not that Iranians will use it but that they won't use it and that they might behave like a "responsible power"? But what about the hysteria about a second Holocaust? What about Prime Minister Netanyahu's assertion that this is 1938 and Hitler is on the march? What about all of these pronouncements that Iran must be prevented from developing a nuclear weapons because the apocalyptic mullahs would happily commit national suicide in order to destroy Israel? And what about AIPAC and its satellites, which produce one sanctions bill after another (all dutifully passed by Congress) because of the "existential threat" that Iran poses to Israel? Instead of an admission that the Iraq debacle was wrong, the fraudsters made lame excuses in attempts to exonerate themselves. Past Vice President Dick Cheney, the strongest defender of the Iraq misadventure continues his vain attempts to justify the unjustifiable.

American arrogance has clearly found several avenues for acrimony. More than 1,000 American military bases around the world has often been an unwelcome embodiment of American military power.
SANDWELL police and partners kicked off Safer 6 with a Safer Travel operation at West Bromwich bus station on Monday 26 September.
Officers from the Safer Travel team installed two knife arches at the entrance to the station from Kings Square, for all commuters to pass through. The arches detect metal and officers were on the lookout for concealed weapons.

There are those today who would claim that the lifeblood of a nation is dependent upon the graces of its government. That government is the focal point of cultural growth, and that we as citizens should respect it as such. I would be more inclined to agree if the public did not so easily confuse the ideals of leadership with the actions of criminals.
That is to say, regardless of what we wish our government to be, bureaucracies rarely, if ever, embody the spirit of the common man (a necessity for any system that purports to defend the citizenry).
Instead, bureaucracies almost inevitably deteriorate into vehicles for the perpetuation of tyranny driven by the very worst of all stewards; elitist minorities with delusions of godhood. Unfortunately, despite this fact, the masses often treat these industrious vermin and the plagues of society that they build with the same reverence as they would a sincere and honorable body politic.
Government is not nor has it ever been a foregone conclusion. Government is not concrete. It is not tangible. It is not the foundation of society. Instead, government is an abstraction; a fantastic dream of collectivist paternity in the face of individual hardship.
Those who fear to wander the world on their own courage, strength, and merit, seek to elevate and empower “decision makers” to provide the comfort of limited liability. Through this process, governments are created out of thin air.
All governmental authority is, thus, HANDED to those in positions of leadership. What makes one man a “king” and another man a “peasant”? Only the people of a country, and where they choose to place their personal control; in their own hands, or the hands of others.
To put it simply, there is no power over us but that which we give away, and no freedom lost, that cannot be regained.
Until this reality is understood, consecutive generations of human beings will be left to wonder astonished at the endless atrocities of governments they thought they could trust. The truth is, no government, no matter how seemingly noble, deserves our full faith.
All governments must be treated like storehouses of aging dynamite; with extreme vigilance, care, and suspicion, because, it is in the very nature of centralized power to sink towards destabilization and disaster.
The American dynamic was meant to be different. For the first time in history, a group of people organized an administrative body which was predicated upon the will of the general populace and not the will of the incorporated elite.
The Constitution was the first legal document designed to LIMIT the power of government, not endlessly exonerate it. Though many in our modern age have become completely ignorant of its original intent, the Constitution and its written protections allowed for the first decentralized government of the Western world, if not the entire world.
A government which was specifically tasked with shielding the rights of the individual beyond the desires of the mindless “majority”, or the normally influential aristocracy.
Obviously, we have strayed far and away beyond the schematics set forth by the founding fathers.
Let us finally be honest with ourselves and say it out loud; our government is not Constitutional! It has become a mutation. A monstrosity. A malformed creature given birth by the oozing genetic material of mad social scientists hell bent on dominating the building blocks of our political life. It is a thing to be abhorred, not admired, and certainly not to be trusted.
The statement above may be confusing to those who have relegated their concerns to the immediate. If one is free to walk about the streets, keep a job, have a drink, and settle in front of his television for hours on end, then what is there to be worried about? If he is not directly affected by the ill notions of men in far off banks and capitols, then why care at all? If the pain of government criminality only strikes people from “other” cultures, or other walks of life, why be concerned?
For those who actually suffer from this brand of idiocy, I can only relate the unwarranted role that our government has assumed within our society and hope that they begin to realize how extraordinarily unsafe they really are. The injustices visited upon the few are invariably visited upon the many in time, especially where a rogue government resides.
The kind of intrusion by government allowed by the American people today is utterly astounding. Bankrecords, medical records, political viewpoints, phone conversations, emails, child rearing practices, food eating habits, health pursuits, social networking habits, biometric data, travel; nothing is safe from the prying eyes of government anymore.
At what point did we as a nation decide that the government’s opinion of the domestic ideal should become the precedent? At what point did we decide that a faceless bureaucracy knows better than we do what is best for us? When did our lives become an open book to be read at the government’s leisure?
I say “we decided”, because we must bear a large part of the blame. From the institution of the Patriot Acts, to the utilization of the FISA domestic spying bill, to the latest monitoring and cataloging by the DHS and the Federal Reserve of private internet activity, we have stood by and done little to nothing in response.
The argument put forth by establishment proponents has always been that the government’s task is to keep us safe. In order to do this, they say, there can be nowhere for “evil doers” to hide. Therefore, the privacy of every individual must be sacrificed for the greater good of the greater number. This argument is unabashed nonsense.
Governments do not keep people safe. Governments are historically predisposed to ending far more lives than they protect, especially when they have strayed from their original mandates. When a government goes rogue, or has been honed as a tool for control rather than defense, its directives lean towards self preservation, not the preservation of the public. That is to say, the government and those who directly benefit from its manipulation set policies that ensure their own safety, and no one else’s.
Without a doubt, all the anti-4th Amendment legislation that has been passed over the course of last decade is focused not on some sinister force, foreign or domestic. Instead, it has been focused on average American citizens, because, whether we want to admit it or not, the government sees US as their greatest enemy.
There was a time when even I would have considered this view as a bit “extreme”. However, I would now have to point out the introduction of bills and executive orders like the John Warner Defense Authorization Act, which essentially erases Posse Comitatus and allows for Martial Law to be instituted with extreme prejudice under executive authority:

Not to mention the National Emergency Centers Act which allows for the detention of civilians in military and FEMA run facilities:
And most recently, the National Defense Authorization Act, a defense spending action which is being used to coattail legislation which decimates all Constitutional checks and balances and leaves the door open for the government to declare any region they wish a “combat zone”.
These provisions are just a rewritten combination of the Enemy Belligerents Act (both bills were fostered by the hand of John McCain) and the John Warner Defense Authorization Act, giving government free reign to designate any person, even an American citizen, as an enemy combatant. This means that anyone, including you, could one day be detained without Habeas Corpus, without fair trial, without due process, without legal representation, forever. Period.
You think rendition only occurs in Middle Eastern hellholes? Think again. With these bills and others like them, the American public is now fair game.
Rationalizations for the above actions abound. Some of the most common naïve positions include the following:
1) Assassinations Against Al Qaeda Agents, Even If They Are American Citizens, Is Justifiable
The nature of the target is irrelevant to the principle underlying the situation. I don’t care if Anwar al-Awlaki was an agent of Hades, the conscience of a country must take precedence over the short term threats that country faces.
If a society is unable to maintain its conscience and its principles in the face of hardship, then perhaps that society is not worthy of survival. There are, indeed, many more important things than national security.
This is how all tyranny begins; with a small group or element of a culture singled out for the loss of human rights, while the rest of the people look on and cheer. Eventually, the exception to the rule becomes the rule, and everyone suffers.
Under no circumstances should our government be allowed to rewrite Constitutional protections or our moral compass, even if it means giving so called “terrorists” fair treatment under the law. Never forget, the term “terrorist” is as arbitrary as any nowadays, and could be used against you as easily as it could be used against anyone else.
2) The Domestic Realm Is A Haven For “Homegrown Terrorists”
Again, “homegrown terrorism” is a highly arbitrary label. If one looks at statements and white papers coming from the Department Of Homeland Security, or the Department Of Justice, anyone from Constitutionalists, to Ron Paul supporters, to militia members, to barter networkers and sound money proponents, or anyone who even expresses an interest in any of these subjects, is considered a potential domestic terrorist threat.
Where is this headed? Think about it. If these types of people are already being categorized as extremists, what’s to stop the government form categorizing them as enemy combatants?
3) Rendition And Torture Could Save Lives
Okay. Let’s say for the sake of argument that rendition and torture actually could save some lives, though I have never heard of any of these Jack Bauer moments taking place in the real world. Let’s say my life and those I love could be spared. Frankly, I would rather die than be a party to behavior as reprehensible as kidnapping and torture.
I couldn’t care less about the theoretical benefits of the activity. As stated earlier, a nation hanging by the poisonous framework of moral relativism is doomed to failure and decay. Despite the propaganda often spread by elitist elements within our government, our military, and our local law enforcement, you DO NOT need to become the monster in order to defeat the monster. This lie should not be allowed to stand…
4) You Are “Overreacting” To The Legislation, And Americans Will Not Be Targeted
Senator Lindsay Graham, a backer of the National Defense Authorization Act, specifically outlined the bill’s jurisdiction over American citizens and even admitted it makes the U.S. itself a “combat zone” under the international laws of war (while at the same time presenting the lie that Federal due process would somehow be enforced for those who are captured).
We who oppose the bill could do a lot more without being rightfully accused of “overreaction”. If Americans are not to be targeted, then why create the bill in the first place? Traditional laws of war would be more than sufficient to handle foreign threats, and domestic response agencies like the FBI could easily continue doing whatever it is they supposedly do to safeguard our country.
The ONLY reason to introduce a bill which frees the U.S. Government and the DHS to act militarily within the borders of our own nation would be to target U.S. citizens, and to undermine normal Constitutional processes.
The legislation is self-incriminating. Only a complete dullard would argue otherwise.
5) The Government Is A Body Elected By The People, Therefore They Are One And The Same
The only practical explanation I can think of for someone to actually believe this argument is overmedication. Despite what we’re all taught in middle school, our government as it exists today and has for many decades does not represent the will of the people. Two dominant political parties with cosmetic differences in rhetoric but nearly identical legislative platforms and voting records is not an expression of a legitimately free republic.
The system revolves around corporate ideologies of globalization, not elections. Its beneficiaries are a limited and powerful fringe of society, not the masses. It is a rigged game. A fake battle between two gladiators owned by the same Caesar. To say that the people and the government are one-in-the-same is a gross error in judgment.
After researching and acknowledging the course our government has taken, the question then arises; what is the ultimate end result? Barring multiple miracles of a complete economic turnaround, full third party inclusion in our political structure, the deconstruction of the Federal Reserve, the decentralization of financial influence, the reintroduction of Constitutional insulation degraded since 2001, and the complete pullback of troops involved in ongoing wars in the Middle East, there can be only one outcome: total conflict.
We did not create this division. The American people did not ask to be targeted. Though we certainly have not done enough to fend off the numerous attacks upon our general liberties, the root of the problem still lay within the core of our government, the puppet leaders who abuse it, and the corporate elitists who use it as a staging ground for personal agendas.
We have become two separate groups that cannot and will not be reconciled. The government is openly admitting this through legislation like the National Defense Authorization Act. Its time we did the same.
When two forces diametrically opposed exist upon the same ground at the same time with the same force of will, war erupts. A war of philosophies, a war of dissent, and sometimes, a war of weapons.
As unsettling as that might sound, we must take solace in the fact that we at least fight for what is honest. If every American must conform to the twisted path our government has chosen, or be branded an ‘enemy combatant”, then may we all become domestic threats in our own backyard.
