USA: Bachmann Takes $1.1 M From Taxpayers

Today Michele Bachmann claimed that we can’t afford to extend unemployment benefits, but while she has been in Congress, she has taken over $1.1 million taxpayer dollars in salary, subsidies, and benefits.

Here is the video from NBC News:

If video does not load just click on it

While she has been in Congress, Michele Bachmann and her husband Marcus have been living the high life on your tax dollars. Marcus Bachmann’s clinic has taken $137,000 in Medicaid funds and an additional $24,000 in federal and state funds. This is in addition to the $260,000 in federal dairy and corn subsidies that she has taken for the family dairy farm, and let’s not forget her $174,000 annual salary plus benefits that she receives as a member of Congress. All of this adds up to over $1.1 million in taxpayer money that she or her husband has received, not counting benefits, since she was elected to Congress.

I’ll admit that my estimate is on the low side. When we factor in her benefits and perks including the free healthcare that she and family enjoy, I am sure that the amount of money Rep. Bachmann is costing taxpayers is much higher. The average American collects $295 a week in unemployment benefits, which is $15, 342 a year. One year of Michele Bachmann’s congressional salary could provide benefits for 11 families. For what Michele Bachmann has cost the federal government in salaries, benefits and subsidies 110 families could stay on unemployment for a year if needed.

It seems to me that if America wants to cut costs the first thing we should get rid of isn’t unemployment benefits, but freeloaders like Michele Bachmann.

UK: The Faces and Races of the London Riots of 2011

The media insist that the London Riots of 2011 were not 'race riots' and that 'race had nothing to do with it.' Is that really true? Judge for yourself from the surveillance photos on who the majority of the "youth" rioters were.

UK: Perfect Storm: The England Riots Documentary

'This mini-documentary film looks at the initial causes and wider context surrounding the recent England riots. Politicians refuse to acknowledge their role in creating a deeply unfair and failing society, a perfect storm of police brutality, city poverty and austerity measures, that will only get worse unless the root problem is addressed.'

You Tube comment:
I cant shed any tears of the death of Mark Duggan; he's one less gangbanger on the streets in my opinion. Although I didn't agree with some key points, overall this is a fantastic analysis. If you can cover this much ground in under half an hour then surely you can make a 7/7 film under an hour and a half in length. The Epilogue is particularly great by the way. Well done mate!

USA: Conference aims to normalize pedophilia

If a small group of psychiatrists and other mental health professionals have their way at a conference this week, pedophiles themselves could play a role in removing pedophilia from the American Psychiatric Association’s bible of mental illnesses — the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), set to undergo a significant revision by 2013.  Critics warn that their success could lead to the decriminalization of pedophilia.
The August 17 Baltimore conference is sponsored by B4U-ACT, a group of pro-pedophile mental health professionals and sympathetic activists.  According to the conference brochure, the event will examine “ways in which minor-attracted persons [pedophiles] can be involved in the DSM 5 revision process” and how the popular perceptions of pedophiles can be reframed to encourage tolerance.
Researchers from Harvard University, the Johns Hopkins University, the University of Louisville, and the University of Illinois will be among the panelists at the conference.
B4U-ACT has been active attacking the APA’s definition of pedophilia in the run up to the conference, denouncing its description of “minor-attracted persons” as “inaccurate” and “misleading” because the current DSM links pedophilia with criminality.
“It is based on data from prison studies, which completely ignore the existence of those who are law-abiding,” said Howard Kline, science director of B4U-ACT, in a July 25, 2011 press release. “The proposed new diagnostic criteria specify ages and frequencies with no scientific basis whatsoever.”
The press release announced a letter the group sent to the APA criticizing its approach, and inviting its leaders to participate in the August 17 conference. “The DSM should meet a higher standard than that,” Kline continued. “We can help them, because we are the people they are writing about.”
APA spokeswoman Erin Connors told The Daily Caller in an emailed statement that her organization was not participating in the conference and would not comment on its aims.
Child advocate Dr. Judith Reisman, a visiting professor at Liberty University’s School of Law, said the conference is part of a strategy to condition people into accepting pedophiles.
“The first thing they do is to get the public to divest from thinking of what the offender does criminally, to thinking of the offender’s emotional state, to think of him as thinking of his emotional state, [and] to empathize and sympathize,” Reisman said. “You don’t change the nation in one fell swoop; you have to change it by conditioning. The aim is to get them [pedophiles] out of prison.”
According to Reisman, empirical data show that pedophiles typically molest many children before finally being caught.

USA: Graphic 9/11 Coloring Book Teaching Kids ‘Truth’ About Terrorism Full Of Lies And Propaganda

A new 9/11 coloring book claiming to teach kids the truth about terrorism instead uses lies and propaganda to brainwash the next generation to support illegal perpetual wars.

Government propagandists have released a new 9/11 coloring book that is supposed to begin teaching our children the “truth” about terrorism.

The coloring book is aimed at convincing children as young as 3 years old that illegal perpetual wars are necessary to protect American freedoms. While containing controversial and objectionable graphic content it has some how been slapped with a PG rating.

The book is full of half-truths, outright lies, and a distorted perception of reality that will breed deep-seeded hatred against Muslims in American children. It also serves to desensitize our children to the illegal terrorist activities being performed by our own government.

Click pic to enlarge
Clearly the page shows this coloring book, which is supposed to teach our children the truth about terrorism, doesn’t stick to the truth.

For example, the page reads that  “In Bin Laden’s house in Pakistan, Osama used his wives and children as shields as he tried to escape and get away from the American Military”. That is an outright lie told by the government and ran with by the corporate media with out fact checking because it made for great headlines.
The fact is the White House redacted the story of Bin Laden using his wife as shield as being untrue and furthermore the coloring book adds its own lie by saying Bin Laden used his children as shields.
I could point to my own posts to document the statement is the lie some people only believe the corporate media so here are the first 5 google results  for bin laden did not use wife as shield..

EU: Major setback for Angela Merkel

Chancellor Angela Merkel received disturbing news ahead of a crunch debt summit with President Nicolas Sarkozy as it emerged the German economy grew just 0.1 per cent in the second quarter this year. Until now Germany's economy - Europe's biggest - had been growing strongly despite the debt crisis afflicting the 17 countries in the euro zone. But if even Germany's economy is struggling, it could mean the euro zone faces even more trouble as it battles sovereign debt.

Lagging consumer spending and construction investment have been blamed for the slow down. The second quarter figure compares with 1.3 per cent growth for the first three months of this year - boosted by strong exports of cars and industrial machinery.

ALEX BRUMMER: Clash of Germany and France, the euroland titans

As a surplus country - Germany had a balance of payments of $45billion for the first quarter this year - its economy acted as a foundation for the bail outs of Ireland, Portugal and Greece. But the sluggish figures could spark more fears in the European markets and could give the European Central Bank more reason to avoid further interest rate increases. France and Germany's leaders face a stark choice in talks today on whether to steer the embattled euro zone towards closer monetary union or risk watching it unravel.

UK: Further strain on consumers as inflation rises to 4.4 per cent [(Government doctored figures)12% in real terms]

Fresh misery was on the cards for UK households today as it was announced inflation rose to 4.4 per cent in July. The Consumer Prices Index (CPI), which measures the cost of living, rose from 4.2 per cent a month earlier, official figures showed today.

The prices of food and household goods has soared in recent months, while wages have either been frozen or risen at a much slower rate. CPI is an estimate comparing the prices of a sample of common items like food and drink, clothing and recreational activities. July is the 20th month running that CPI will have missed the Bank of England's target of 2 per cent.

Sir Mervyn King must write to the Chancellor George Osborne when the rate of inflation has been above target for more than three months - this will be his seventh successive letter and his 12th in total. Meanwhile the headline rate of Retail Prices Index (RPI) inflation remained unchanged at 5 per cent in July, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said - meaning regulated rail fares will increase by an average of 8 per cent from January.

UK: Jobless refugees who SNUBBED a six-bed home in Coventry to be with friends in London

Luxury home: The £2m house where the
Khaliif family live in North-West London

They say beggars can’t be choosers. But in the case of jobless Somali refugee Saeed Khaliif and his family, it seems they can. The Mail yesterday revealed how the Khaliifs have been given a £2million home in one of London’s most exclusive neighbourhoods, with taxpayers funding their £8,000-a-month rent.

The family had rejected a previous six-bedroom home in Coventry - where the bill for the public would have been a more reasonable £1,000 a month - simply because they wanted to live ‘closer to their friends’.

Yesterday the Daily Mail tracked down their old address in Coventry and found a beautiful semi-detached house in one of the city’s most desirable districts. The red-brick Victorian property is situated opposite a park known as Gosford Green which has survived since the 1300s, and there is also a parade of shops and restaurants nearby.

Their fellow refugees in the area said the ‘very lucky’ family should have counted their blessings to have been given such a property.

Abdi Ibrahim, chairman of the Coventry Somali Community Network, a charity which works to integrate Somalis into the wider community, said: ‘In all my time in Coventry I have not even seen a six-bedroom house advertised for rent.

From yesterday's Mail
From yesterday's Mail

'My family have been stuck in three or four-bedroom accommodation - a six-bedroom house is exceptional. This family should really have stayed in the area because it is much cheaper than in London.’

Mr Khaliif, 49, moved to the seven-bedroom property in West Hampstead, North-West London, with his wife Sayida and their children after deciding their previous accommodation was too far from their friends, even though Coventry is barely more than an hour away by train.

Leafy West Hampstead is one of the most sought-after areas in London, and well beyond the reach of many well-heeled house-hunters in the capital.

USA: Immigration - Poverty In America

While attending a conference in Denver, Colorado, I noticed dozens of beggars on the streets. They stood at intersections carrying cardboard signs that read, "Homeless, anything will help, God bless."

As I walked out of the Colorado Convention Center, one man, wrapped in rags, curled himself around a steam vent on the sidewalk. A cardboard box served as a pillow. Cement served as his mattress. Along Colfax Avenue, hundreds of homeless begged for food or money. They slept in huddled misery under the loading docks and in doorways. The poor will always be with us; just more of them! The National Coalition for the Homeless, www.nationalhomeless.org reported 3.5 million homeless people struggled for survival in the streets of America in 2006. Of that number, 1.35 million consist of homeless children. Reports show 13 million American children suffer daily from malnutrition and hunger in America. A shocking 37 million Americans live below the poverty line, which is 12.7 percent of our population.

Educational experts estimate over 42 million people in America suffer functional illiteracy. They cannot read, write or perform simple math. They offer no skills other than the labor of their hands.

Twenty million illegal aliens residing in America make up the largest high school dropout population in the history of the nation.

Over half of all black and Hispanic babies originate from unmarried mothers that lack high school diplomas. Fifty to 70 percent of blacks and Hispanics do not graduate from high school. Thirty percent of whites do not graduate from high school.

In the last century, Mexico grew from 50 to 104 million people. Current demographic figures show Mexico growing to 153 million by mid century. Since 85 percent of all immigration into the United States originates from Mexico, we face a striking dilemma. Can we incorporate a massive and growing illiterate population? How will we contend with the next added 100 million Americans featuring scant educational skills? How will we deal with millions of babies from their ranks? If we cannot educate half of current American minorities, how will we educate this massive overload of humanity?

If Mexico cannot maintain a successful society with 114 million people today, how do you suppose they will sustain their country with 50 million more?

To give you a harsh view of our future, I offer an eye-witness account from my bicycle seat traveling through Mexico. On the outskirts of Mexico City with 22 million people, in excess of two million people live in cardboard shacks. They squat for their morning constitutional with their chickens.

They live in abject misery, filth, disease and hopelessness.Guess what? They're moving to America. Millions of them!Third world slums began appearing along our borders from Brownsville, Texas to San Diego, California in the 80s. Called "Colonias," which in Spanish means "new neighborhoods," they feature shacks, no sewers, no streets, no running water, no electricity, toilet facilities or waste pickup.

China: 100 Million Renounce Communist Party

Movement to renounce the Chinese Communist Party reaches major milestone

When poorly constructed elementary school buildings collapsed in Wenchuan, China, after a massive earthquake in 2008, parents wanted answers. Rather than launching an investigation or tallying the student deaths, however, agents of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) infiltrated the parent groups, broke them up, arrested the recalcitrants, and jailed a man trying to help them.

A similar dynamic happened after the poisoned milk powder scandal broke in 2008. The man who lobbied on behalf of the parents, and whose child was also a victim, ended up in jail.

Meanwhile, millions of peaceful Chinese citizens are monitored, arrested, and tortured to death, because the CCP considers their religious beliefs to be a threat to its rule.

The Chinese regime also crushes all attempts by anyone organizing politically—hence hopes for a future China without these depredations seem bleak.

Xia Ming’s entry is recorded somewhere in the tidal wave of 55,000 new statements that appear on the website each day—every one of them stating a time, ID number, and number of people making a renunciation.
Enter “Tuidang,” meaning, “Renounce the Party.”

Yan Zhijun is the archetype of a Tuidang activist. A 62-year-old Chinese woman with a broad, disarming smile, she started promoting Tuidang in early 2005, on a trip from the United States back to China.

It began with a small circle of family members. She would remind them of the horrors of Communist Party rule, past and present, and simply ask, “Do you want to be part of that?”

After she got back from China, her Tuidang activities picked up momentum. From family members andfriends she extended the circle to friends of friends, former school students and teachers, and then strangers (she now says everyone she meets is like a “brother or sister,” and if they’re Chinese, she talks about Tuidang.)

People who hadn’t heard from her for four decades were surprised to get a phone call, she in America, explaining why they needed to sever ties with the Chinese Communist Party. She’s helped 1,800 people resign, by her own calculations.

Zombies Hate Preppers (Video)

Chances are that you’ve heard more and more talk about zombies and preps to avoid a “zombie apocalypse.” If you’ve been lost in the buzz, READ THIS. 'We're Raising A Gender-Free Dog!'

News Item - Parents Keep Child's Gender Secret

by Henry Makow Ph.D.

My partner and I have decided not to tell our dog "Terry" what gender s/he is. We're not telling our family, neighbors, other dogs or the local news media either. When we take a walk and someone asks, "Is your dog male or female?" we reply: "That's a closely guarded secret. We want to raise Terry in an environment that is free of oppressive gender stereotypes."

If Terry is a girl, we'll make her raise her hind leg -- a gesture of liberation. We'll encourage her to hump other dogs. Inversely, if Terry is a boy, we'll reward him if he squats to pee. We'll discourage him from being territorial or dominant. If s/he is a female, there will be dog treats for aggression and roaming. "You go girl!!"

We object to the vile notion that female dogs are "easier to train." We'll teach female Terry to act out and bark. Female dogs more affectionate? If Terry is a girl, we'll train her to be cold and distant, i.e "strong and independent."

Terry's personality will not be determined by what's between her/his hind legs. Gender stereotypes are not stereotypes as long as we reverse them. If Terry has a litter of puppies, we'll be very angry and disappointed. "Terry, this is shocking behavior for a boy!"

CONCLUSION
My partner and I are taking this courageous action because we believe in "changing the world."

We are heartened by the support we're getting from our progressive friends in the Communist Party, the B'nai B'rith, the CIA and the Church of Satan. Gender stereotypes (not the "central banking cartel") are the cause of wars and injustice. If gender stereotypes can be eliminated, the human race will enter a very long period of "peace."

Our motto is, "Today pets, tomorrow the world!" One day, female lions will protect the pack and sleep. The male lions will hunt and mind the cubs! One day, lambs will lie down with lions because the world is gender neutral.

USA: Zionist Media Frightened To Death Of Ron Paul

I admit I do not fully understand Ron Paul and his beliefs. But I do understand when a guy gets shafted, and Ron Paul just got shafted. On Saturday, the Ames Straw Poll was conducted in Iowa amid huge media interest and scrutiny. The results were enough to force one Republican candidate, Tim Pawlenty, out of the race, and catapult another, Michele Bachmann, into the “top tier.”

There are so many “top tier” stories in the media today that I can barely count them, let alone read them all, and Bachmann is in all of them by virtue of her victory at Ames. The rest of the tier is made up of two candidates who skipped Ames, Rick Perry and Mitt Romney.

As The Daily Beast put it: “The new top tier of Bachmann, Perry, and Romney — created by Bachmann’s Iowa straw poll win, Perry’s entry into the race and Romney’s lead so far in many national and state polls — has unleashed torrents of talk about the reshaped race.”

Paul’s name was not mentioned in this piece nor in many others. A Wall Street Journal editorial Monday magnanimously granted Paul’s showing in the straw poll a parenthetical dismissal: “(Libertarian Ron Paul, who has no chance to win the nomination, finished a close second.)”

But “close” does not fully describe Paul’s second-place finish. Paul lost to Bachmann by nine-tenths of one percentage point, or 152 votes out of 16,892 cast.
If it had been an election, such a result would almost certainly have triggered a recount. It was not an election, however, and that is my point. Straw polls are supposed to tell us, like a straw tossed into the air, which way the wind is blowing.

21 Books The Ruling Elite Doesn't Want You to Read

The sole purpose of COINTELPRO was to destroy individuals and groups perceived as threats to the status quo in the United States. COINTELPRO was “officially” ended in 1971—although it never really ended. After the 911 attacks, the government went at it again, but this time with a scared and more dumbed-down complicit public. Exactly forty-six days after the towers came crumbing down Bush signed the USA Patriot Act. This virtually eliminated restrictions on law enforcement agencies' ability to search telephone, e-mail communications, medical, financial, and other records. What we used to consider illegal eavesdropping is now reclassified as something else -- an emergency. According to an official DOJ report, the use of “emergency”, warrantless requests to ISPs for customer communications content has skyrocketed over 400% in a single year. No outrage, no accountability. The majority of people are now more concerned about how to feed their families; civil liberties will just have to take a back seat until things improve.

The inequality and oppression in America now resembles that of a third world oligarchy. The only purpose of an oligarchy is to perpetuate oligarchic rule. Hence, "change" is not a choice, lest the rulers might be held to account for their crimes. Upward mobility is no longer attainable; the days of “hard work and dedication bringing success” are over. It would be a slap in the face to say that to the more than “317,000 waiters and waitresses (over 8,000 of which have a doctoral or professional degree), along with over 80,000 bartenders, and over 18,000 parking lot attendants” Americans who graduated from college. The cancer of nepotism and cronyism are the order of the day. It is mathematically impossible to hold a job while paying for exorbitant college tuition, unless of course you come from the fast-shrinking upper-middle class.

The majority of voters voted for Obama in 2008 because they wanted change. The word "change" did resonate in the hearts of Americans, but, unfortunately, the people were once again bamboozled. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Voting appears to be the least viable solution; the more productive path is to organize locally. The following list of books contains sources not often cited by mainstream media . . . and there is a reason for that. These books promote critical thinking, revisit the coverups of history, and promote individual empowerment. They should be read widely in order to raise awareness of the situation facing America today, so that we can take back what has been taken from us.

UK: Oxford law graduate 'threw bricks at police'

An Oxford law graduate hurled bricks at police officers in broad daylight during London’s riots last week, a court heard, while two sons of an evangelist minister have been accused of looting from an Iceland in Croydon.

Fahim Wahid Alam, 25, is accused of joining a mob that attacked police in Hackney at the height of the riots on Monday afternoon and Sam and Michael Caillaux targeted the supermarket at the height of the chaos.

Alam, who also has a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics [Socialist cess pit], attacked police as he walked home from a job interview with the London Civic Forum, Highbury Corner magistrates’ court heard yesterday.

The group works to promote ‘healthy communities’ and an ‘inclusive civil society’ – and strongly condemns the riots on its website. The Caillaux brothers' father, Remi, is the head of several charities and travels the globe preaching the word of God.

The pair live in Purley, South London, and appeared in court charged with burglary. While Samuel, 20, did not enter a plea, Michael, 18, indicated that he would plead not guilty and they will both face magistrates in Camberwell today. Their father told the Daily Mirror: 'I have just come back from Ghana to London and I haven't seen them yet. I need to find out what happened.'

UK: So what DOES it take to deport a criminal?

A judge cut the sentence of an illegal immigrant and drug dealer yesterday to help him escape deportation.

Vincent Miller was kicked out of the UK twice but managed to return and stay for more than a decade by stealing the identities of British citizens. Yet when the 33-year-old was sentenced, the judge said sending him home to Jamaica would be ‘devastating’ for his three children.

Incredibly, he deliberately shortened the sentence Miller would have received from a year to 11 months. Criminals given 12 months face automatic deportation proceedings.

Recorder Farook Ahmed told Miller: ‘The sentence I have had in mind was 12 months, but it seems to me that it isn’t necessary for me to pass a sentence of 12 months because a sentence of 11 months will have the same effect, and it would take away the automatic triggering of deportation. I have taken into account that if you were to be deported it is bound to have a devastating effect on your three children, who I’m told are lawfully here in the UK.’

Sir Andrew Green, chairman of the pressure group Migrationwatch, said: ‘This raises serious questions about the attitude of the judiciary towards the whole question of removing from Britain those who no longer have a right to be here.

‘To shorten the sentence of a criminal so as to allow him to stay simply beggars belief.’

London Riots: Order Out of Chaos

Problem, Reaction, Solution

That being said, the London riots might be exactly what the ruling class needed to further a few agendas. The elite’s motto is Ordo Ad Chao, meaning Order Out of Chaos. Time and time again, chaotic situations have been “allowed” – if not totally engineered – by the elite in order to create fear and panic within the general population. The distraught masses then beg the elite for an intervention and a prompt solution. The result of these interventions is almost unequivocally the same: the introduction of rules and regulations disadvantaging the average citizen while giving more (undemocratic) powers to the elite.
The new policies would not normally be accepted by the general population, but due to the panic generated by the crisis, the policies are not only accepted but welcomed with open arms. The Great Depression of 1929 allowing the Rockefellers and the Morgans to hijack the banking system, 9/11 clearing the way for the PATRIOT act,  the bailout “crisis” that handed $700 billion of tax-payer money directly to a few favored companies … the same pattern repeats itself continually. Create a crisis, make it last long enough to get the population worried and introduce the solution that was, in fact, part of the agenda all along. And the population falls for it, every single time.
Using mass media, it is easy to create widespread panic. Simply interrupting a TV show with “Breaking News” featuring a red banner at the bottom of the screen and bold letters is enough to raise the collective heartbeat of a nation, and to make it aware of a situation in a matter of minutes. In the days that follow, all media outlets constantly remind the population of this particular situation. The constant hammering makes the situation almost seem as unbearable by the population who hear about it continuously on TV and read about it in the newspapers and the internet. After a while, the average citizen will want just one thing: the awful, nauseating feeling created by the situation to go away, whatever that takes. After the problem has dragged long enough, the media present one or several solutions. Not fully understanding this solution, but tired and annoyed, most people think: “Well, if that’s what it takes for them to shut up about this and move on to something else, then I’m all for it.”
Did the elite allow the London riots to last long enough to create a sentiment of panic? There are already sources stating that the police were ordered to stand by as the riots took place (according an article from the Daily Mail entitled Why police were so soft on London looters: They ‘were ordered to stand and observe’ as capital burned (but in Manchester they were hunting looters within hours). Furthermore, we are already seeing in the media the emergence of a specific agenda and a call to the adoption of specific policies that, predictably, go against the interests of the general public.

Israel: 277 new homes in West Bank settlement

Israel has approved the building of 277 apartments in the Jewish settlement deepest inside the West Bank, defying US criticism of continued construction on land the Palestinians claim for a state. The planned construction in Ariel — the core of the settlement bloc farthest inside the West Bank — is the third project on disputed lands to be advanced in the past week.

Palestinian Authority spokesman Ghassan Khatib called the recent building announcements an "escalation" and called on the international community to pressure Israel harder.

"The policies of every single country in the world (are) that settlement expansion is illegal and an obstacle to peace," Khatib said. "Israel is not taking this seriously. I think these countries have to introduce elements of accountability to their relations with Israel."

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the US Embassy had no immediate comment.

Palestinians oppose Israeli construction in the West Bank and east Jerusalem — lands they want for the core of a future independent state — and have suspended talks with Israel as a result. Instead, they plan to go to the United Nations next month to seek its unilateral endorsement of their state.

The latest construction approval could further complicate American attempts to persuade the Palestinians to give up their UN bid and enter negotiations with Israel instead. Israel has recently moved ahead on plans to build more than 2,500 new apartments in disputed east Jerusalem, and Israeli officials say 2,700 more will be approved soon.

UK: MASS WATER FIGHT AVERTED BY THE BRILLIANT SWIFT ACTION OF THE POLICE. New anti-terrorist laws on 'water fights' expected soon!

A 20-year-old is due in court after police discover plans for a Colchester water fight circulating on BBM and Facebook

A man will appear before magistrates in September for attempting to organise a citywide water fight on his mobile phone. The 20-year-old from Colchester, south-east England, was arrested on Friday after Essex police discovered the plans circulating on theBlackBerry Messenger service and Facebook.

The unnamed man has been charged with "encouraging or assisting in the commission of an offence" under the 2007 Serious Crime Act, police said. He was arrested the day the water fight was due to take place along with another 20-year-old man. He has been bailed to appear before Colchester magistrates on 1 September. The second man was released without charge.

UK: ASYLUM FAMILY GIVEN £2M HOME TO BE NEAR FRIENDS

A FAMILY of asylum seekers on “every kind of benefit available” have been granted a move to a £2million London mansion that rents out at £8,000 a month just to be nearer their friends, it emerged yesterday.

Jobless Somali Saeed Khaliif, 49, and wife Sayida use benefits to pay the rent on the six-bedroom home in West Hampstead, north London.

It was claimed the family moved from Coventry to be closer to friends and relatives in London. While it is not known exactly how many children the Khaliifs have, up to eight youngsters have been seen at the house, including two in wheelchairs.

The new “substantial home” was on the market for £2million. It has six bedrooms, three bathrooms and three receptions.

It was recently advertised locally at a rent of £1,500 per week. But their former landlord, Raj Sohal, said: “If the rent on their new property is £8,000 a month, I’m sure they are getting a lot more. They were on every kind of benefit available.” He said the large family told him they wanted to leave his Coventry home to be closer to relatives in the capital.

The Government recently capped housing benefit at £400 per week, but it is thought the Khaliifs moved before the limit.

The estate agent blurb said: “Located along a quiet tree-lined street just off the West End Lane, close to West Hampstead for all the three main train stations, local shops and the plethora of restaurants and bars.”

It adds: “The property comprises a light and spacious reception room, modern kitchen, six good-sized bedrooms (four with en suite shower room, two with dressing rooms), shower room and 90ft garden. This is a truly unique home.”

When Mr Khaliif was approached last week outside his home he reportedly said: “This is my house. We’ve got every right to live here.”

UK: GREEN TAX ‘COSTS US ALL £500 TOO MUCH

EVERY family in the UK pays £500 a year too much in “ineffective and fiercely costly” green taxes, a new book claims today.

Let Them Eat Carbon says domestic green taxes – like fuel duty, the fossil-fuel levy and landfill tax – raise £39billion a year, £13billion more than can be justified. Its author, , says: “The biggest threat to taxpayers is expensive new green taxes and subsidies.”

He cites Government figures which put the annual social cost of Britain’s greenhouse gas emissions at £16.9billion which, together with the £9.2billion spent on roads, leaves a green tax surplus of around £13billion – or £500 for every family.

He adds: “Excessive green taxes make everything from driving to work to taking a well-earned holiday more expensive and make it a lot harder for manufacturers to compete.” He is backed by former Chancellor Lord Lawson, who described the book as “invaluable”.

ì
The biggest threat to taxpayers is expensive new green taxes and subsidies.
î
Matthew Sinclair, director of the Taxpayers’ Alliance
The Treasury commented last night: “The Government is committed to being the greenest ever and will increase the proportion of tax revenue accounted for through environmental taxes. But we have also taken action to ease the burden, so taxes on fuel are six pence per litre lower than they would have been.”

DURING ECONOMIC CRISIS, NEW LAWS CRACK DOWN ON AMERICA'S POOR, HOMELESS

The number of laws criminalizing poverty increased during the recession as the housing and homelessness crisis in America worsened.

Since 2006, there's been a 7 percent increase in laws prohibiting camping out in public places, an 11 percent increase in laws prohibiting loitering, a 6 percent increase in laws prohibiting begging and a 5 percent increase in laws prohibiting aggressive panhandling, according to a recent report by The National Coalition for the Homeless.

At the same time, after a double-digit jump in 2008, homelessness increased by an average of 2 percent from 2009 to 2010, according to the U.S. Conference of Mayors' Task Force on Hunger and Homelessness. Among families with children, homelessness increased by 9 percent. An average of 27 percent of homeless persons did not receive assistance last year because there weren't enough beds or shelters would not accept children.

"In this economy, cities are facing really tight budgets, so they may not be able to build up or fund housing to meet the need," Tulin Ozdeger, civil rights director for the National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty, told USA Today. "Many people are being forced to live out on the streets."

In an essay published this week in The Guardian, Barbara Ehrenreich, author of the New York Times bestselling book "Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America," tells the story of a 62-year-old disabled veteran who was dragged from a homeless shelter to jail because he had an outstanding warrant for "criminal trespassing," which is how Washington, D.C., defines sleeping on the streets.

In some areas of the country, Ehrenreich wrote, cities are even beginning to crack down on do-gooders who want to hand out free food to the homeless. Las Vegas passed an ordinance forbidding the sharing of food with any "person whom a reasonable ordinary person would believe to be entitled to apply for or receive" public assistance. In Florida, Gainesville law limits the number of people soup kitchens may serve daily. In Phoenix, zoning officials have stopped a local church from serving breakfast to homeless people.

The phenomenon of criminalizing poverty isn't limited to the homeless, though. Kaaryn Gustafson of the University of Connecticut Law School compared applying for welfare, which may entail mug shots, fingerprinting and lengthy interrogations about child paternity, to "being booked by the police." In Florida, legislators recently passed a law requiring welfare recipients to undergo drug screenings, according to CNN. People who can't afford to pay court fees or traffic tickets in Michigan are made to sit in jail.

USA: The Dire State Of America's Children

A new Children's Defense Fund (CDF) report shows the dire state of children in America today. Titled, "The State of America's Children: 2011," it can be accessed in full through the following link: http://www.childrensdefense.org/child-research-data-publications/data/state-of-americas-2011.pdf

Focusing mainly on 2008 - 2010, it ranked America among industrialized countries "investing in and protecting children" as follows:

First in GDP First in billionaires
First in prison population size
First in health expenditures
First in student expenditures
First in military expenditures, technology, and global wars
First in weapons exports

17th in reading scores
22nd in low birthweight rates 23rd in science scores
30th in infant mortality rates
31st in math scores
31st in wealth gap between rich and poor
Last in relative child poverty
Last in adolescent birth rates (ages 15 - 19)
Last in protecting children from gun violence Only America and Somalia (with no legally constituted government because America ravaged it with war, poverty and starvation) haven't ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Other disturbing information includes:

Every second a public school student is suspended.
Every eight seconds a high school student drops out.
Every 18 seconds an unwed mother gives birth.
Every 20 seconds a public school student is corporally punished.
Every 21 seconds a child is arrested.
Every 34 seconds a child is born in poverty.
Every 42 seconds a baby is born without health insurance.
Every 42 seconds a child is abused or neglected.
Every minute a teenage mother gives birth.
Every two minutes a low birthweight child is born.
Every four minutes a child is arrested for illegal drug possession.
Every eight minutes a child is arrested for committing violence.
Every 18 minutes a baby dies before age one.
Every 45 minutes an accident kills a child or teen.
Every three hours a child is shot and killed.
Every five hours a child or teen commits suicide.
Every five hours a child dies from abuse or neglect.
Every 16 hours a mother dies from childbirth or pregnancy complications.

Moreover, growing hunger, homelessness, and nutritional deficiencies contribute most to low birth weight, infant mortality, and poor health. At issue is political Washington's indifference. America's greatest national security threat results from not investing in and educating every child. Most in all racial and income groups, and nearly 80% of public school Black and Hispanic children can't read or do math at fourth, eighth or 12th grade level standards, among those who haven't dropped out.

It shows as the rage to privatize grows, focusing on bottom line priorities, not teaching or caring about children matter. Families today in America are "more fragile as jobs are lost, unemployment compensation has been reduced, public assistance and public health programs restrict access, housing foreclosures continue and affordable housing becomes scarcer."

States spend three times more per prisoner than per public school student. Child poverty increased by almost 10% between 2008 and 2009, and keeps growing. In 2009, over 20% of children were impoverished, the number rising annually. With Main Street America mired in Depression, children are falling further behind in poverty, health, education, abuse, neglect, and early childhood development.
