Large swathes of London were on lockdown this afternoon as the city yet again braced itself for a fourth night of feared violence. Shops, businesses, pubs, schools and even medical centres sent staff home early in a desperate bid to avoid the dramatic scenes that have rocked the capital since Saturday evening. It is feared that gangs could descend on a string of town centres to embark on mindless rampages of destruction and looting.
Meanwhile, West Midlands Police said that there was some disorder this evening in Wolverhampton. This afternoon a string of shops had already closed and even built barriers to try to avoid tens of thousands of pounds of damage. Managers decided to shut the Southside shopping centre in Wandsworth, south London, to avoid the risk of looting and violence.
Aftermath
Earlier a shop on the high street selling mobile phones had its windows smashed and goods stolen. Meanwhile offices in nearby Wimbledon, Wandsworth and Tooting were also closed and staff sent home amid fears they were going to be targeted by rioters and looters from around 5pm.
The popular shopping centre of upmarket Kingston-upon-Thames was the latest to fall victim to the fear spreading across the capital, with businesses advised to consider closing early. The vast majority of shops in Peckham closed before 3pm as staff were sent home early.
A man in his 60s suffered life-threatening injuries when he was attacked by rioters after he tried to extinguish a fire they had started in a bin, a witness said today. The witness, who gave his name as Jim and owns Big Jim's Trims in Ealing, west London, said rioters attacked the victim when he tried to put out the fire they had started in Spring Bridge Road, near to the Arcadia shopping centre, at about 11pm last night. Commander Simon Foy, of Scotland Yard, said: 'It was quite a grave assault and his condition is causing us some concern.'

Jim, 40, who owns stores on The Green and Devonshire Road, said: 'I went up to Spring Bridge Road to check on my other shop and saw him on the ground.
'The rioters had set a bin alight and then they jumped on him when he tried to put it out. They ran away when the police arrived, and they put him in the recovery position.' He added: There were three police there and I was told to leave. The bin was still on fire when I got there. I'd had to go all the way around the rioters to get there so I'd put a hoodie on and put the hood up and I could see them mayheming. I only found out later that they had jumped him. I could see he was wearing shorts and T-shirt, with grey hair.'
The BBC was forced to cut short an interview about the UK riots with former black panther member and convicted criminal Darcus Howe on Tuesday morning when he viciously turned on the interviewer.

Parliament is being recalled on Thursday in response to rioting in England, the prime minister has said.
The government's emergency committee Cobra met on Tuesday after rioting spread across London, with violence flaring in other major cities. "We will do everything necessary to restore order to Britain's streets and make them safe for the law-abiding," David Cameron said in Downing Street.
More than 16,000 officers will be on London streets on Wednesday, he said. All Metropolitan Police leave has been cancelled, with the ranks swollen by reinforcements from other forces and community support officers. More than five times the usual number of officers for a Tuesday will patrol London's streets later.
Two 17-year-olds said they were "showing police and rich people they could do whatever they wanted".
Meanwhile, Scotland Yard said a 26-year-old man found shot in a car in Croydon, amid rioting in the town, had died in hospital.
That was the headline over a recent post by David Hearst forThe Guardian’s Comment Is Free space. It began: “There is an Arabic word you come across a lot when Palestinians talk about their future. Sumud means steadfastness, and it has turned into a strategy: when the imbalance of power is so pronounced, the most important thing to do is to stay put. Staying put against overwhelming odds is regarded as a victory.”
Hearst didn’t offer any substantial explanation of why Palestinian steadfastness is a victory, so I will.
When the Palestine file was closed by Israel’s victory on the battlefield in 1948, it was not supposed to have been re-opened. There was not supposed to have been a regeneration of Palestinian nationalism. The Palestinians were supposed to accept their lot as the sacrificial lamb on the altar of political expediency.
And the whole truth includes this fact. Behind closed doors, and despite their rhetoric to the contrary, the Arab regimes shared the same hope as Zionism and the major powers – that the Palestine file would never be re-opened. They knew that if it was, there would one day have to be a confrontation with Israel and its big power supporters, the U.S. in particular, and they didn’t want that.
They, the Arab regimes, also feared that a Palestinian state, if it was ever established, would be more or less democratic and provide a model of government which all Arabs would want. Palestinian nationalism was therefore perceived by Arab autocrats as a potentially subversive force. The regimes of an impotent, corrupt and repressive Arab Order order were and still are every bit as determined as Zionism to suppress the truth of history as it relates to the making and sustaining of the conflict in and over Palestine that became the Zionist not Jewish state of Israel).
For their part Israel’s leaders were aware that if they failed to keep the Palestine file closed, a regeneration of Palestinian nationalism would cause the legitimacy of Zionism’s colonial-like enterprise (not to mention its crimes only starting with the first ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians) to be called into question.

The world financial markets are voting with their money, that the U.S of A. will no longer be the leader of free market enterprise. The flow of hot money into Treasury Bonds is tantamount to feeding the alligator with the hope that eating forged paper will forgo its appetite for flesh. This is the same strategy used to shackle market makers and docile societies into accepting, that the world financial system must be saved from their own greed and pillage, so that the dependent vassals can continue to pay their tribute.

Congresswomen urge federal funding for homecare of Shoah survivors in US
(05 August 2011) – Holocaust survivors living in the United States would receive federal funds designed to help them age at home, rather than having to move to an institution, according to a new bill drafted by the Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and her Republican counterpart Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. The bipartisan proposal calls for survivors to be added to a list of elderly citizens receiving preferred treatment and to create a grant program helping them with their transportation needs, the ‘Jerusalem Post’ reports.
“As a nation that upholds the values of freedom, liberty and justice, we have a moral obligation to acknowledge the plight and uphold the dignity of Holocaust survivors to ensure their well-being,” Wasserman Schultz was quoted as saying. “Our children’s generation will be the last to know Holocaust survivors and hear their stories firsthand. We must do all we can to honor their struggles and their lives by improving their access to transportation to get them where they need to go, and improve their home-care options so that they can have peace of mind. This bill does just that, and it’s time to make it happen.”
Ros-Lehtinen said survivors of Nazi persecution deserved to be honored in their old age. “The sad reality is that every day, we have fewer Holocaust survivors among us to tell their tragic tales that remind us of the reality of evil,” she said in an email quoted by the Israeli newspaper. “Many of these survivors have pressing medical and housing needs and this bill seeks to address those gaping holes in social services,” she added.
An estimated 127,000 Holocaust survivors live in the United States today. About three quarters of them are over the age of 75, and about two-thirds live alone. Many of the survivors struggle to make ends meet and are in poor health.

Eyewitnesses: Police stood back and allowed rioters to loot private businesses
Following numerous reports of failures on behalf of police to arrest looters or adequately respond to the riots in London that are now sweeping across the entire UK, curfews and troops on the streets are now being readied as authorities prepare to enforce martial law to quell massive civil unrest.
BBC News twice reported this morning that troops were being readied. The statement was first made by a reporter at 8:30am and then repeated by a Metropolitan Police representative who said “all options were on the table”.
Curfews are also being discussed as authorities prepare to transform Britain into a locked down police state.
“Armoured vehicles have been brought in to clear the streets for the first time by police to tackle what senior officers say is the worst rioting and looting in living memory,” reports the Guardian.
Having started in poorer areas of London, the riots have now spread to other major cities including Bristol, Nottingham, Liverpool and Manchester.
There can be little doubt that the vast majority of the rioters are products of the country’s broken society, nihilistic youths who care little about political grievances and are primarily focused with exploiting the chaos to steal as much booty as they possibly can while getting off on mindless violence. This behavior ensures the public will overwhelmingly support whatever measures are proposed to deal with them, even to the point of outright martial law.
Liam Fox is running the war in Libya from his sunbed in Spain, the Daily Mail can reveal. The Defence Secretary has flown out a team of officials from his ministry to join him on his two-week holiday so he can stay in control of the campaign against Gaddafi.
The advisers include a military assistant, a special adviser and a signaller who is responsible for military communications. However, critics may ask why the Defence Secretary is on holiday at all while Britain is involved in two conflicts.

Left-wing politicians have cynically sought to make political capital out of the riots, blaming government cuts for the orgy of violence. Labour MPs and activists lined up to make excuses for the thugs, spouting claims that disadvantaged youth had no option but to smash up high streets.
Chris Williamson, Labour MP for Derby North, suggested the Government’s austerity drive was to blame.
On Twitter, he said: ‘The Tories are back alright. Why is it the Tories never take responsibility for the consequences of their party’s disastrous policies.’
Minutes earlier he had endorsed the comment of another Twitter user who said: ‘Riots. Protests. Cuts. Unemployment. Disaffected Youth. Strikes. Recession. Police Brutality.’
Swift to jump on the bandwagon was [Nigger] Lee Jasper, a former adviser on policing to Ken Livingstone when he was Mayor of London.
He blamed the ‘economic violence’ of the government for the riots and expressed no sympathy for businesses that were smashed up. He claimed some were attacked because they do not help create projects for under-privileged youths and was quoted as asking: ‘When did Curry’s build a school?’
In another interview, Mr Jasper appeared to blame the police for the violence, saying the authorities had failed to take account of the level of suspicion among people in Tottenham when it responded to the death of alleged drug dealer Mark Duggan.
As police lost control of the streets of London last night, locals were forced to take the law into their own hands to protect their homes and businesses.
In Dalston and Hackney, north-east London, shopkeepers and their families fought back against looting youths and forced them from the streets. As surrounding areas were pillaged members of the town's large Turkish community stood firm outside their homes and businesses.
One man said: 'This is Turkish Kurdish area. They come to our shops and we fight them with sticks.'
On Shacklewell Lane, where a single-deck bus was burned out, stick-wielding shopkeepers stood defiant in the street after chasing away a gang of youngsters intent on destruction.
One, who would not give his name, said: 'We beat up four of them quite badly and they ran off.' Another said: 'This is not justice, coming here and trying to attack us.' In testament to the men's bravery, several businesses on the street remained open as usual, unlike other areas where shopkeepers had heeded police advice to shut their doors early.
Guardian reporter Paul Lewis described the scenes on Kingsland Road, Hackney, as Turkish men clashed with youths, tweeting: 'Kingsland Road chaotic as Turkish men attack other, predominantly black, youths with sticks, metal barricades and bricks.'
In a further tweet Mr Lewis quoted a man carrying a stick as saying: 'This is Turkish Kurdish area. They come to our shops and we fight them with sticks.'
South of the river in Tooting, near to Clapham, where high streets were ravaged, Asian shopkeepers shut up early and stood guard outside their stores with their relatives to protect them.
A local resident, who asked not to be named, said: 'With no police on the streets, it could've been a free-for-all for criminals. I'm so relieved it didn't kick off round here last night. If it had kicked off I dread to think what would have happened.'
Sporadic rioting, looting and arson attacks broke out across the length and breadth of London yesterday as the orgy of violence which began in Tottenham at the weekend showed no sign of abating. From Hackney to Croydon, gangs of teenagers fought running battles with police, making roadblocks from burning cars and ransacking shops. Police in Birmingham also established an exclusion zone as large crowds gathered and shop windows were smashed.
Masked rioters on BMX bicycles armed with batons attacked a crowded London bus during the evening rush-hour last night, chasing terrified commuters as they tried to escape. The thugs, some as young as eight, forced the driver to stop the double-decker by pelting it with champagne bottles stolen from a nearby Tesco. About 40 passengers – some carrying screaming toddlers – burst out of the exits and sprinted away.
Several commuters fell to the ground during the stampede as about 20 black men wearing balaclavas and riding BMXs chased them. As they ran, one woman screamed: 'They are threatening us with big sticks. We have to run for our lives.
'What have we done to them? We are innocent people just trying to get home.'
Elsewhere rioters were said to be targeting white people.
Mounted police formed a line as rioters set fire to four cars outside Pembury estate. But as night struck, the police line backed off and the streets became lawless.

The violence started on Saturday after father-of-four Mark Duggan, 29, was shot dead by police marksman last Thursday.
In one of the most serious incidents, the well-known Reeves furniture store in Croydon, south London, which first opened in 1867, was completely destroyed by a huge fire. In Clapham youths went on the rampage trashing dozens of shops and walking out with plundered products.
Residents complained that police were very slow to respond as a huge Debenhams store was ransacked. This morning the whole high street was cordoned off as a major investigation and clear-up got underway.
Owner Trevor Reeves told Sky News: 'It has just provided my family and the 15 or 20 staff and families that were supported, it's just completely destroyed.
'Words fail me. It's just gone, it's five generations. My father is distraught at the moment. It's just mindless thuggery.'

As police lost control of the streets of London last night, locals were forced to take the law into their own hands to protect their homes and businesses.
This is the shocking moment a young man is apparently forced to hand over all of his clothes after appearing to be stripped naked during lawless riots overnight. Internet rumours last night claimed that on top of the widespread destruction across London and Birmingham, people were having their clothes removed by looters as police attempted to contain the criminality.
Reports on Twitter claimed some people were being stripped, while another shocking video shows a bleeding teenager being robbed in broad daylight by lawless thugs who pretend to help him to his feet. On Twitter, numerous posters claimed there had been incidents of people being stripped naked in Birmingham, although the reports are unsubstantiated.
A spokesperson for the Met Police could also not confirm reports of people being stripped in Deptford, south London.
Elsewhere, a shocking video showed an unnamed teenager being apparently assisted by kind-hearted passers-by after being spotted injured and bleeding from the nose on the floor.
But seconds after the vulnerable man is helped from the ground, callous looters instead start rifling through his rucksack.
With over a dozen young men standing nearby, the teenager tries to stop the bleeding from his nose as thieves continue the daylight robbery. A man who is clearly seen picking items from the teenager's bag then wanders off with his loot, before carelessly discarding the items on the floor.
Violence and mayhem spread like wildfire through the capital last night with police apparently powerless to act. Scenes of mob rule became more terrifying by the minute as widespread arson and anarchy was added to the orgy of looting.
By midnight flashpoints had multiplied around London, with Clapham, Hackney, Dalston, Peckham, Woolwich and Lewisham added to the list which already included Enfield, Walthamstow and Tottenham.
And there were fears that the chaos could spread nationwide, with Croydon to the south of the capital ablaze, and even Birmingham and Bristol joining in the destruction as hundreds of youths smashed shop windows and looted the contents.
At 2.30am the Metropolitan Police changed tactics in the Lavender Hill area of Clapham, introducing armoured vehicles to push back more than 150 people where substantial damage was being caused to shops and local businesses. Because the tactic was a success police are now considering using the same tactic elsewhere.
Commander Christine Jones, said: 'We are using tactics flexibly to respond to the disorder we are still seeing in different areas of the capital.
'Anyone involved in criminality should be under no illusion that we will pursue you.
'We have been making arrests all evening and have a team working during the night examining CCTV images.
'We will follow up evidence in the coming days in order to bring anyone else responsible for criminal acts to justice.'
With cars, shops and homes burning, police tactics were coming under ever-increasing attack.
Riot officers were unable to deal with the sheer scale of the violence and there were questions about the Metropolitan force’s lack of leadership following the resignation of Sir Paul Stephenson.
The police lack of control allowed mobs of children aged as young as seven to rampage through the streets at will. Mobs of masked youngsters, some on BMXs, roamed the streets ransacking stores in daylight and hurling petrol bombs at police.
At least 35 officers were hurt and tens of millions of pounds of damage was caused to homes and businesses in ‘copycat criminal activity’ across London.
The weekends devastating riots in Tottenham has shocked many, the crimes are just the latest in a series of tragic events that would never have happened if the left had not decided to subject the people of this country to ‘multiculturalism’.
Saturday night’s violence saw 26 police officers injured – with eight admitted to hospital – when 300 people attacked police in north London on Saturday night and into the early hours of Sunday.
Shops were looted, police cars and a double- decker bus set alight, and petrol bombs thrown at officers.
Although the news channels are hard at work portraying the perpetrators of these crimes as the victims, wheeling out black ‘community representatives’ who blame the ‘racist’ white police for black violence, the truth is that this is just the latest battle in the immigrant-on-indigenous war forced upon this country by those who aid and abet mass immigration.
The area that witnessed last night’s horrific scenes was very close to that of one of Britain’s most notorious riots, just over 25 years ago. In 1985, PC Keith Blakelock was hacked to death by men with knives and machetes on a rundown housing estate in Tottenham when around 500 mainly black youths rampaged through the streets, attacking police, looting and setting fires.
Both Tottenham riots are just two in a series of such events in Britain over the last 30 years.
1981: More than 300 people are injured, including 279 police officers, as black men hurl petrol bombs in Brixton, south London. The two-day clash causes £6.5m damage. Later in the year there is another riot in Brixton, as well as riots in Manchester, Southall and Toxteth, Liverpool, where a man is killed.

As fire hoses continue pumping water onto smouldering buildings in Tottenham, emergency services have been dealing with disturbances across London as fresh bouts of rioting and looting have broken out across the capital. Police officers were being deployed to respond to "copycat criminal activity" across the capital.
Disturbances erupted on Sunday in several boroughs in North, South and East London, with reports of trouble in Brixton, Enfield, Walthamstow and Islington.
Three officers were taken to hospital after being hit by a fast-moving vehicle at 12.45 a.m. on Monday, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said. The officers had been in the process of making arrests in Chingford Mount, Waltham Forest, after a shop was looted by youths.
Meanwhile, a fight broke out when rival gangs attended King's College Hospital after two victims of minor stabbings were admitted, police said.
The hospital has brought in extra security for the rest of the night and officers remain on scene dealing with the initial stabbings, the spokesman added.
Six fire engines were dispatched to deal with a blaze at a Foot Locker shop in Brixton, south London, and witnesses saw riot police clash with looters at a Currys store nearby.
"A couple of hundred youths were rioting and looting. Riot police went in to get them out and there was a big fight in the street. Youths were throwing rocks and bottles and there was a bin on fire. They used a fire extinguisher to push the police back so they could get back into Currys and continue taking things out."
Elsewhere, more than 30 youths, many in masks, vandalised and looted shops in Walthamstow Central, including BHS. "Officers attended the area, and the situation is currently under control. Groups of youths are continuing to target shops in Waltham Forest, and officers are on scene," the spokesman said.
Police Commander Christine Jones said: "Officers responding to sporadic disorder in a number of boroughs made more than 100 arrests throughout last night and early this morning. This is in addition to the 61 arrests made on Saturday night and Sunday morning."
She went on: "Officers are shocked at the outrageous level of violence directed against them. At least nine officers were injured overnight in addition to the 26 injured on Saturday night. We will not tolerate this disgraceful violence. The investigation continues to bring these criminals to justice."
On the front line
London British National Party Organiser Steve Squire, who stood for the party in an Enfield by-election the Thursday before last, has been in Enfield, talking to police and concerned local residents.
He said: “Around 100 enrichers from outside of Enfield descended on our town to take advantage of the easygoing, laidback attitude and give it the wakeup call it deserves a week after the Bush Hill Park by-election, but the police did an excellent job and ran them off.”
London British National Party organiser Steve Squire at the scene in Enfield said: “You get what you vote for! It’s time the people of London woke up to the reality of living in this tinderbox. We have a serious situation building here and our only hope is to stop this madness politically…. And time is fast running out as scenes this week have shown us”

Gangs of masked youths have gathered in Birmingham city centre and some shop windows have been smashed.
A McDonald's restaurant, close to the city's cathedral, has had a window broken and eye witnesses have reported more damage in the Colmore Row area.
A heavy police presence has also been seen in the city from late afternoon.
West Midlands Police said it was aware of some disorder in Birmingham city centre, including some vandalised shops and incidents of theft.
Assistant Chief Constable Sharon Rowe said several premises in the centre had been attacked, with some shop windows smashed and property stolen in various locations.
"We will not tolerate mindless violence and damage anywhere in the West Midlands and are working to ensure that the offenders are identified and caught as soon as possible," she said.
"A policing operation is in place with extra officers in Birmingham to restore calm in the city centre, and protect local people and businesses.
"Our communities have made it clear to us that they do not want this kind of violence in their city and we will continue to work with them to bring anybody who commits acts of crime or anti-social behaviour to justice as soon as possible.
Police have also asked people to think twice before ringing emergency services with non-urgent calls as there was high demand for services.

Muslims will respond to the Israeli and American genocide of their brothers and sisters by cutting off supplies to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Iranians will send up to 100,000 suicide volunteers into Iraq and Afghanistan armed with shoulder fired anti-aircraft missiles, IEDs, automatic weapons and 50 caliber sniper rifles. When our troops have no supplies and the Iranians have shot down our helicopters, our soldiers will be lucky to get out alive.
But the men inside the Pentagon also need to know that the bankers want them to lose WWW III. Tell them that the passage of NAFTA in 1994 resulted in sending 50,000 American factories overseas. In 2011 America’s supply lines extend all the way back to China and even then only on credit. It is by design that America must lose a protracted conflict fought without China’s permission.
The bankers want America to lose World War III so the soon to be impoverished citizens cannot demand both the arrest of the bankers and the return of the tens of trillions they stole.
