As he gears up for his re-election battle, President Barack Obama is considering the idea of endorsing same-sex marriage, The New York Times reports.
A Democratic strategist told the Times that high-ranking White House officials “are looking at the tactics of how this might be done if the president chose to do it.”
Another intriguing clue comes from Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., who is openly gay. He said he was asked by an Obama official, “What would be the effect if he came out for same-sex marriage?”
Obama is the prime attraction at a Gala with the Gay Community fundraiser in New York City this coming week. He also will hold a gay pride at the White House on June 29, the Times reports.

WRH comment:
Obama cannot run on the economy, the wars, the Gulf, Israel, or pretty much anything else that really affects the nation as a whole, so he is going to wave Gay Marriage around as a campaign issue for 2012.

Iraq: Good Fire Hit Him!
Chris King Pop Icon's commentary of the Apache Helicopter Attack video - the killing of 3 Iraqi farmers. The venerable Robert Fisk comments: "The pictures are appalling, the words devastating. As a wounded Iraqi crawls from beneath a burning truck, an American helicopter pilot tells his commander that one of three men has survived his night air attack. "Someone wounded," the pilot cries. Then he received the reply: "Hit him, hit the truck and him." As the helicopter's gun camera captures the scene on video, the pilot fires a 30mm gun at the wounded man, vaporising him in a second."Analysis details the fact that these people were indeed... Farmers. Heaven?
USA: Gates tells Congress to support the illegal war in Libya, cutting off funds would be a “mistake”
As of late Obama has been doing a fine job of proving himself to be a warmonger just like his Republican counterparts which purport to hold different views. For those who still believe that the two-party system in America offers you two real choices, I think these recent events have been a fine example of how this is simply not the case.
Unfortunately for the people of America, our two choices end up carrying on the exact same agendas as those they replace. Obama has not fulfilled any of his most major campaign promises like closing Guantanamo Bay, bringing out troops home, repealing NAFTA/GATT, etc. Instead of bringing our troops home, he sent more out and created more conflicts.
One could argue that we are now embroiled in five distinct conflicts, or wars depending on your definition, including: Libya, Yemen, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq. Not to mention the many covert operations going on, of which none of us are aware and the intensifying theater of cyberwarfare.
Even Republicans are now challenging Obama’s right to continue to bomb civilians in Libya in the name of humanitarian aid. However I think it is safe to assume that they are only doing this for political points as they would love to see the Constitution eradicated as much as anyone else in Washington.
Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Gates is busy doing damage control by giving interviews in which he claims that pulling out of Libya would be a “mistake.” He is also quoted by Reuters as saying, “… I think this is going to end OK. I think Gaddafi will eventually fall.”
I don’t know about you but that kind of assurance is far from comforting. Gates seems to see the option of removing ourselves from Libya altogether as an absolute impossibility. He doesn’t even seem to entertain the notion, although he would not say how he would define “hostilities,” deferring the definition to the White House.
UK: Net migration target to be missed, warn academics
The Coalition has already been accused of watering down its pledge after Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister, described it only as an "aspiration". And the Migration Observatory now estimates Government reform will only reduce the numbers by 75,000 leaving ministers well short of the target.
12 Things That The Mainstream Media Is Being Strangely Quiet About Right Now
'As the mainstream media continues to be obsessed with Anthony Weiner and his bizarre adventures on Twitter, much more serious events are happening around the world that are getting very little attention. In America today, if the mainstream media does not cover something it is almost as if it never happened.
Right now, the worst nuclear disaster in human history continues to unfold in Japan , U.S. nuclear facilities are being threatened by flood waters, the U.S. military is bombing Yemen, gigantic cracks in the earth are appearing all over the globe and the largest wildfire in Arizona history is causing immense devastation.
But Anthony Weiner, Bristol Palin and Miss USA are what the mainstream media want to tell us about and most Americans are buying it.'
World Debt is Unpayable, The Only Solution is Monetary Collapse
'It should be firmly implanted in your mind that your masters in government and those controlling government brazenly and arrogantly believe that they know better what is good for you, than you do. That is why when they speak to you their answers are dripping with condescension - as if to say, how dare you question what we tell you. Fed Chairman, Mr. Bernanke, is a perfect example of this. He, others and his predecessors have created a false economy based upon perpetual debt and upon money and credit being created out of thin air.
Today that is accompanied with zero interest rates, a combination that in time can only bring a falling dollar, inflation and a collapsing economy. Mr. Bernanke appears to believe that an increased supply of money has little or no effect on the comparison between money and the prices of goods. He has to be living in a fairy tale land. Thinking such as this can only end up making a bad economic situation worse.'
UK: TAX TURNS OUR CHEAP PETROL INTO MOST COSTLY IN EUROPE
PROOF of the Government’s petrol rip-off was revealed yesterday by figures showing that we have some of the cheapest fuel in Europe – until the tax is added.
An EU website comparing fuel prices across the continent showed that before tax unleaded petrol in Britain costs about 54.7p per litre. This is far cheaper than petrol anywhere in the EU apart from Germany, Austria, Bulgaria and Estonia. But once tax is added Britain’s petrol costs on average 136p per litre – among the most expensive.
Diesel is cheaper than Britain’s 58.6p per litre before tax in only Slovenia, Bulgaria and Estonia. But after tax, the UK average price of 139p per litre is the most expensive in the EU.
This is despite Chancellor George Osborne’s decision in the March Budget to cut fuel duty by 1p per litre and to delay two planned inflationary rises until January and next summer.
RAC strategist Adrian Tink said: “Is it any wonder that Britain’s motorists continue to believe they’re nothing but a cash cow?
UK: Proof Bob Crow is a railway sleeper
For some time now I have suspected that Bob Crow is an MI5 agent. It’s the same feeling I had about Arthur Scargill in the Eighties. There can be no other explanation.
![]() |
| Selfish: Bob Crow |
If you tried to invent a man to discredit and destroy the trades union movement from within, there could be no finer candidate. Just as Barmy Arthur led the coal miners to oblivion, so Bob Crow seems determined to bring down not only his own union but the entire TUC.
Although I had my suspicions, they weren’t confirmed until I read Paul Bracchi’s profile of Crow in Saturday’s Daily Mail. It turns out that the RMT leader has a brother, a wealthy stockbroker who lives in leafy Berkshire.
That’s when the penny dropped and everything began to fall into place. Crow must have been recruited at an early age, probably at prep school. While his brother went off to the City, young Bob was sent to work as a tea boy on the London Underground. It is a classic ‘sleeper’ tactic, placing someone in an unobtrusive, menial role so as not to arouse suspicion.
He was almost certainly given a new identity. You can just imagine the Funny People trying to think up a suitable name.
‘Charles, old chap, we need a moniker like that Peter Sellers character in I’m All Right Jack. What was it?’
‘Fred something. Fred Kite, that’s it.’
‘Marvellous. How about Bob Crow?’
‘Splendid. Sounds the part already.’
My guess is that Crow’s real name is more like the Hon Robert Crowborough and his father, far from being a docker, rode with the Berkeley Hunt. Crow was sent to an exclusive MI5 finishing school where he was taught to eat jellied eels, drink his tea from a saucer and given elocution lessons to enable him to speak with a convincing Cockney accent.
‘You must get it right Bobby, old boy. Can’t have you coming across like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins. That would soon give the game away.’
UK: The temps paid up to £1,250 a day by council
![]() |
| Fat cat: Council Temp Malcolm-Newsam is earning £1,250 a day |
A council forced to cut services and slash hundreds of jobs has been paying six temporary staff up to £1,250 per day each.
They were brought in at Kent County Council to replace directors who were made redundant, but are now earning up to three times Prime Minister David Cameron’s daily wage.
The wage bill came to light following a Freedom of Information request by the Daily Express. Emma Boon, from the TaxPayers’ Alliance, said: ‘It’s disgraceful that so much is being spent on several interim directors.
‘There will sometimes be a need to use temporary staff but they cost taxpayers more than those on a permanent contract so every effort should be made to limit their use.
‘Effective HR management can reduce the need for interim directors. It’s unaffordable to continue to pay these astronomical daily rates indefinitely.’

LET THE DOG SEE THE RABBI
We are used to reading about Israelis and Jews bragging about the inherent bond between Israel, enlightenment, modernity, science and technology. Hence, it may take us by surprise to find out that in the Jewish State, a dog was ‘sentenced to death by stoning’ by a Rabbinical court.
Ynet reported yesterday that several weeks ago a large dog entered the Rabbinical Court in Jerusalem. The dog scared the court's visitors and to their surprise, “refused to leave even after they attempted to drive him [it] away.”
“One of the judges suddenly recalled that about 20 years ago, a famous secular lawyer who insulted the court was cursed by the (Rabbinical) panel of judges, who wished that his spirit would move on to the body of a dog (considered an impure animal by Halacha). The lawyer passed away several years ago.” Luckily enough, the curse was realised. The spirit of the Lawyer had been transferred into a dog and, as if this isn’t enough, the dog has been identified. In spiritual terms, this is far from a coincidence. It is no less than a divine intervention.
One of the Rabbinical court's managers told Ynet that the death by stoning sentence “was ordered by the rabbis because of the grief he had caused the court…They didn't issue an official ruling, but ordered the children outside to throw stones at him [it] in order to drive him [it] away. They didn't think of it as cruelty to animals, but as an appropriate way to 'get back at' the spirit which entered the poor dog."
Following the obscure Jewish logic above, in order to resolve the Jewish Nazi Holocaust trauma, all we have to do is to find the kitten, kangaroo or the unicorn that hosts Hitler’s soul, and stone it to death and move on.
The Israeli Let The Animals Live organization filed a complaint with the police against the Rabbis involved.
Again, it seems as if in the Jewish state, dogs are slightly more fortunate than Palestinians who are frequently chased by the strongest and most lethal army in the world. Seemingly, not enough Israelis believe that Let the Palestinians Live is also an important cause to fight for.
UK: TEST DRUGS ON PETS SAYS EU
THOUSANDS of pets in Britain could end up being used in lab tests if European plans to weaken our tough animal welfare laws succeed.
The Brussels directive could trigger a dramatic rise in the number of cats, dogs and horses used in laboratory experiments. The plan would remove the special protection domestic animals currently have and could even allow pets deemed strays to be used for the first time. At the moment British law means only animals bred for research can be used in tests.
The European Commission, which has given the Government until 2013 to adopt the legislation, would also guarantee the right of puppy farms and cat breeders in the UK to supply animals to research laboratories abroad.
Ministers are concerned that large chunks of the directive would weaken Britain’s tough animal welfare laws. Home Office minister Lynne Featherstone has launched a three-month consultation exercise.
As part of the consultation, the Home Office asks: “Is loss of special protection likely to lead to increased use of cats, dogs and equids (horses and donkeys)? Should the UK retain its current special protection for dogs, cats and equids?”
Under UK law, animal testing centres such as controversial Huntingdon Life Sciences must seek special permission to use cats, dogs and horses.
Latest Home Office figures show that in 2009, 172 cats, 4,129 dogs and 199 horses were used for research. But in countries where there is no special protection, the numbers are far higher.

UK: How Lords on the EU payroll blocked Europe referendum
A ‘shameful’ alliance of former Eurocrat peers who get EU pensions of up to £100,000 a year – which they have not disclosed in the UK Parliament – were criticised last night for sabotaging an attempt by the Coalition to curb the power of Brussels.
An all-party clique of ‘big beast’ politicians and diplomats, many of whom have held lucrative posts in Europe, inflicted a series of defeats on the Government’s EU Bill in the Lords in the past two weeks by just a handful of votes.
The defeats to the legislation, designed to guarantee British voters a referendum on any further loss of sovereignty, have been achieved by a small but powerful group of peers with lucrative Brussels pensions and retired mandarins paid large sums to work at the EU.
They have been backed by pro-EU former Ministers including Michael Heseltine, who made a rare visit to the Lords last week to vote against the Conservative-led Coalition. He was joined by ex-Tory Chancellor Lord Geoffrey Howe and ex-Tory Cabinet Minister John Gummer, now Lord Deben.
The Euro fat-cats with EU pensions who have helped to defeat the Government include Tory ex-EU Commissioner Leon Brittan, ex-Labour EU Commissioners Peter Mandelson, Stanley Clinton-Davis, Ivor Seward Richard and Neil Kinnock and ex-Labour Euro MP Glenys Kinnock.
Why does Britain tolerate its leaders?
The power of lies, deception and self-delusion
Christopher King considers the bubble of deception and lies that underpins the British political establishment and the ignorance and self-delusion that sustain public support for this establishment.
”My friends, you have not yet recognized that we are at war within our country. We are living on capital, on the fat accumulated by past generations of inventors, builders and social reformers. It will soon be gone and our war will become exactly like those of Tunisia, Egypt or Syria. Perhaps like Afghanistan. You don’t believe it? Just look at the speed of collapse in Greece.” (Christopher King)
My family has an investment in Libya. It is a small plot of land in the Knightsbridge War Cemeteryat Acroma, eastern Libya, where my uncle, my father’s brother, is buried. He died fighting Rommel’s forces in World War II and left a young wife. My grandmother mourned him, her youngest son, for the rest of her life. You might say that my father was more fortunate. Although he was captured by the Japanese when Singapore fell due to British military incompetence, he survived his period as a prisoner of war.
You might think that my parents were able to take up their lives where they left off. That was not the case. Warfare, it seems, changes people. Suffice to say that the war destroyed our family.

That is why I despise the warmongers Barack Obama, George Bush, Anthony Blair, Gordon Brown and David Cameron along with the Gaddafis and Saddams – men who enrich themselves and advance their interests in others’ blood and suffering. Nor do I exclude the British Chiefs of Defence Staff who wring their hands in mock sorrow at the deaths of their men. If they had a scrap of courage themselves they would cite the Nuremberg Principles and bring their men home. These people are all the same. Every country has them – failures as moral humans. Why do we tolerate them?
It is a mystery to me why anyone voted a second term for Anthony Blair after he had hawked the Americans’ Iraq invasion around Europe. Our public next voted him in for a third term! David Cameron, Gordon Brown and Nick Clegg all stood on a pro-war platform. Everyone voted for them as if it were the most natural thing in the world for these men to conspire to invade other countries, bomb and shoot their inhabitants and assassinate them with drones. It can be no surprise that our politicians are engaged in yet another American war in Libya.
A Balls Up of Staggering Proportions by the IPCC
'Steve McIntyre has uncovered a blunder on the part of Pachauri and the IPCC that is causing waves of doubt and calls for retooling on both sides of the debate. In a nutshell, the IPCC made yet another inflated claim that: 80 percent of the world‘s energy supply could be met by renewables by mid-century…
Unfortunately, it has been revealed that this claim is similar to the Himalayan glacier melt by 2035 fiasco, with nothing independent to back it up. Worse, it isn’t the opinion of the IPCC per se, but rather that of Greenpeace. It gets worse.'
The Carbon Trading Scam - The only losers are the ordinary people like you and I. (+20% on your Energy Bills)
European Commission estimates energy-intensive sector will have accumulated allowances worth €7-12bn by the end of 2012
Some of Europe's largest industrial companies gained billions of euros from the carbon emission rules they lobbied fiercely against, new analysis reveals today. Ten steel and cement companies have amassed 240m carbon pollutionpermits from generous allocations, according to a report by Sandbag, the carbon trading thinktank, seen by the Guardian.
The free permits, granted to companies with a market value of €4bn (£3.5bn), can be sold or kept for future use. The European commission estimates that the entire energy-intensive sector will have accumulated allowances worth €7bn-€12bn by the end of 2012.
"More and more businesses see that Europe's future lies in a highly efficient economy with low pollution," Baroness Worthington, Sandbag's founding director, said. "But a small group of carbon fat-cat companies are trying to stop this, in spite of making billions from a windfall of free pollution permits."
The steelmaker ArcelorMittal leads the list of companies in the report, with a current surplus valued at €1.7bn, followed by Lafarge, the cement group.
Tata Steel, in third place with a surplus valued at €393m, last month announced 1,500 job losses at its plants in Lincolnshire and Teesside, blaming emissions regulations as well as the economic downturn. Karl-Ulrich Köhler, chief executive of Tata Steel Europe, said at the time: "EU carbon legislation threatens to impose huge additional costs on the steel industry." Tata Steel declined to comment on the report.
The European Union emissions trading scheme (ETS) puts a cap on the carbon pollution emitted by energy and industrial companies. Those reducing their emissions can sell their spare permits to those who do not. But a combination of initial over-allocation by national governments and the economic decline has left the steel, cement, chemical, ceramic and paper sectors with many more permits than they need. The industries have lobbied hard against calls from governments including the UK for the tightening of the ETS and other emissions targets.
One Volcano Exposes The Massive Carbon Scheme Fraud
Okay, here's the bombshell. The volcanic eruption at Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano, since its first spewed volcanic ash, in just FOUR DAYS, NEGATED EVERY SINGLE EFFORT you have made in the past five years to control CO2 emissions on our planet - all of you. And now with Iceland's Grimsvotn volcano erupting on May 21, 2011, it has been a losing battle.
Of course you know about this evil carbon dioxide that we are trying to suppress - it's that vital chemical compound that every plant requires to live and grow and to synthesize into oxygen for us humans and all animal life.
I know, it's very disheartening to realize that all of the carbon emission savings you have accomplished while suffering the inconvenience and expense of: driving Prius hybrids, buying fabric grocery bags, sitting up till midnight to finish your kid's "The Green Revolution" science project, throwing out all of your non-green cleaning supplies, using only two squares of toilet paper, putting a brick in your toilet tank reservoir, selling your SUV and speedboat, vacationing at home instead of abroad, nearly getting hit every day on your bicycle, replacing all of your 50 cents light bulbs with $10.00 light bulbs ... well, all of those things you have done have all gone down the tubes in just four days.
The volcanic ash emitted into the Earth's atmosphere in just four days - yes - FOUR DAYS ONLY by that volcano in Iceland, has totally erased every single effort you have made to reduce the evil beast, carbon. And there are around 200 active volcanoes on the planet spewing out this crud at any one time - EVERY DAY.
I don't really want to rain on your parade too much, but I should mention that when the volcano Mt Pinatubo erupted in the Philippines in 1991, it spewed out more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than the entire human race had emitted in all its years on earth. Yes folks, Mt Pinatubo was active for over one year - think about it.
How Banks Create and Destroy Money
![]() |
| The Money Lenders by Quentin Metsys - 1466 |
During the housing boom trillions were loaned out in mortgages creating a housing bubble and the eventual collapse of the financial markets. But where did all that money come from? The vast majority of people think that banks borrow money from the Fed or depositors at one rate, lend it at another and make a spread. This concept is completely false. Banks create money, loan it out, make their margin through compound interest, and destroy the same money that they created as it is paid back.
The Mechanics of Fractional Reserve Banking
The mechanics of modern banking are opaque, misunderstood and arguably dishonest. Modern fiat money, the dollar, euro, yen etc are all based on debt. For every dollar in existence, there is somewhere an IOU for the same amount. This is best illustrated with an example of a typical mortgage.
Imagine Jack wants to buy Jill’s house for $100,000 and he has no money to buy it so he goes to his local bank and asks for a mortgage which is approved. The bank will ask Jack for a promissory note, an IOU, for the $100,000 and once he signs it, they open an account in which they create from nothing $100,000 for Jack in exchange for his IOU. That $100,000 is a liability for the bank, their asset is the IOU. The bank just ‘created’ $100,000 which is backed by the good faith of Jack to pay it back as well as the deed to the house he bought. Now the bank loans that money to Jack, with compound interest. The interest is the fee the bank charges for monetizing the debt. Jill would not have wanted an IOU from Jack for the 100K, so the bank did him the service of converting his IOU into dollars, and for this service they charge him interest. As Jack pays down his mortgage principal, the value of the IOU will be drawn down as well, until all the money ‘created’ is destroyed, and the IOU is worthless.
The money never existed before Jack signed his IOU. It was created entirely and only as an expression of his promissory note. All car loans, student loans and personal loans are created in this way, and it is the exclusive right of banks and the Fed to create money, except for coinage which is handled by the Federal Government. Banks are restricted as to how much money they can create by the amount they have on reserve with the Fed. The formula is complex, but, for simplicity's sake, it is around 10 times as much as they have on reserve, (actually more). If the bank has 1 million dollars on reserve with the Fed, for which they are now paid interest, they can create and loan out about 10 million dollars. Banks are paid for the privilege of creating and leasing money. This is our modern, fractional reserve banking system.
USA: The Chinese Government Is Buying Up Economic Assets And Huge Tracts Of Land All Over The United States
'In 2011, America is for sale and the communist Chinese are eager buyers. The Chinese government is using sovereign wealth funds and Chinese state-owned enterprises to buy up economic assets and huge tracts of land all over the United States. Many of our politicians hail all of this “foreign investment” as something that is “good for America”, while many others see something much more sinister going on here. In any event, this is a trend that is rapidly accelerating and that is causing great concern among patriotic Americans.
In my recent article entitled “China Wants To Construct A 50 Square Mile Self-Sustaining City South Of Boise, Idaho“, I examined a potential deal that Sinomach (a company controlled by the Chinese government) wants to do with the government of Idaho. There will be more on this deal in a minute.'
UK: Household finances suffer steepest decline since recession as more borrow to pay bills
Britons’ finances have suffered their steepest decline since the recession in June as people loaded up with more debt to finance the rising cost of living, according to the monthly household finance index from Markit.
Six times as many households (36pc) saw their financial position worsen from May, compared to those who saw an improvement (6pc), the leading monthly survey from the financial information firm showed. Data was collected between June 8 and 14.
People’s finances deteriorated as they delved into their savings and took on more debt to cope with increasing prices and falling incomes. That helped the index’s headline measure drop to 35.1, the lowest level since March 2009, when the UK was still mired in recession. Anything under a 50 reading marks a decline in households’ positions on the previous month.
“It may be summertime but the living is far from easy,” said Tim Moore, senior economist at Markit. “The decline in the index pours cold water on the tentative signs of improvement.”
The findings support predictions from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR), the independent fiscal watchdog, that households will borrow more to maintain their living standards – £500bn more within four years, or £20,000 per family.

UK bill for Libya military action running 'into the hundreds of millions'
The cost of Britain’s military action in Libya will be much higher than thought - running ‘into the hundreds of millions’, a minister has admitted.
![]() |
| Wanker Danny Alexander, a man who has never done a days work in his life |
Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander’s comments on the true cost of the operation directly contradict those of his boss Chancellor George Osborne that it will be no more than ‘tens of millions’. Mr Alexander, a Lib Dem, said the bill was rising as the campaign goes on – but insisted the money would come from reserves, rather than other spending.
When military strikes against Colonel Gaddafi’s forces began in March, Mr Osborne told the House of Commons that the UK’s involvement would cost ‘in the order of tens of millions of pounds, not hundreds of millions’.
But, speaking on Sky News’ Murnaghan programme yesterday, his number two Mr Alexander qualified these comments. ‘The campaign is costing tens of millions, potentially into the hundreds of millions as it goes on, but that money is coming from the reserve that we have set aside, precisely for contingencies such as this,’ he said.
‘It doesn’t have an effect on any other spending, on any other public services. Of course there is a very powerful moral case for the action we are taking in Libya, it’s right that we find those resources precisely from the contingency reserve that we have.’
UK: Migrants taking nine in ten new jobs since the election
![]() |
| Zionist sponsored Communist wankers like the UAF are partly responsible for the dire situation in Britain today |
Figures uncovered by Mr Field show that in the first year of the Coalition, 87 per cent of the 400,000 newly created jobs have gone to immigrants, because Britons are too lazy to chase work.
Embarrassingly for Mr Cameron, the proportion of new jobs going to immigrants is actually higher now than it was in Labour’s last year in office. But his attempts to get to grips with the problem have to some extent been scuppered by Business Secretary, Vince Cable, who opposes an immigration cap.
Iain Duncan Smith, the Work and Pensions Secretary, has unveiled plans to simplify benefits into a single universal credit designed to ensure those in work are always better off. Last night, a source close to Mr Duncan Smith said the figures on immigrant workers were a Labour legacy. The source said: ‘When faced with young, sparky Eastern Europeans coming here to work, it is essential that Britons have the skills to compete.’
UK: Christians more militant than Muslims, says equality chief Trevor Phillips [A man of low intelligence who only got to his privileged position because he is Black]
Christians are more militant than Muslims in complaining about discrimination, the head of Britain’s equality watchdog has claimed.
Trevor Phillips said Muslims are better at integrating into society, while Christians often complain about bias for cynical political gains. Mr Phillips, the head of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, blamed the increasing influence on mainstream churches of African and Caribbean immigrants with ‘intolerant’ views. In contrast, he said Muslims ‘are doing their damnedest’ to develop ‘an idea of Islam that is compatible with living in a modern liberal democracy’.
He added: ‘I think there’s an awful lot of noise about the Church being persecuted but there is a more real issue that the conventional churches face – that the people who are really driving their revival and success believe in an old-time religion which, in my view, is incompatible with a modern, multi-ethnic, multicultural society.
‘Muslim communities in this country are doing their damnedest to come to terms with their neighbours to try to integrate and they’re doing their best to try to develop an idea of Islam that is compatible with living in a modern liberal democracy.
