USA: Foreign Aid: Borrowing From Peter to Pay Peter
Nowhere on the planet is common sense a scarcer commodity than in Washington, D.C. The $14 trillion in federal debt — much of it held by foreign, and frequently unfriendly, countries — would seem to be sufficient evidence of that. As if that weren’t bad enough, it now emerges that many of those same creditor nations are also the recipients of U.S. foreign aid.
According to a report from the Congressional Research Service, in fiscal year 2010 the United States’ top creditor nations received millions of dollars in foreign aid from the U.S. government. China, the number-one creditor, holding $1.1 trillion in Treasury bonds, got $27.2 million in U.S. aid. Brazil held $193.5 billion in Treasury bonds and got $25 million in aid. Russia, with $127.8 billion in bonds, received $71.5 million in aid; and India, with $39.8 billion in bonds, received $126.6 million in aid. Other creditors receiving foreign aid: Taiwan ($575,000 in aid), Singapore ($500,000), Thailand ($16.7 million), Ireland ($17 million), Mexico ($316.8 million), Turkey ($8.1 million), Poland ($2.1 million), the Philippines ($128.1 million), Colombia ($461.1 million), Chile ($1.3 million), Egypt ($255.7 million), and Malaysia ($2.2 million).

Unemployment is as high or higher than it has ever been, and this is reflected in statistics of which enumerating procedure is ever-changing in order to minimize the impression and impact. Fractures in the Petition of Right were frequent, and the aptitude of government to make war (even when there is no call for war) became the common excuse for the rulership to degrade civilian legal protections and hurtle them back into the dark ages, where property is a novelty that the authorities violate at their leisure.

Scottish Power today said it will increase gas bills by an average of 19% and electricity bills by 10% from August 1, in a blow for some 2.4 million customers.
Households on a dual fuel tariff paying monthly by direct debit will see their bills increase by an average of £175 a year. The company last put its prices up in November, when gas prices rose 2% and electricity bills by 8.9%. It blamed the most recent price rise on a prolonged rise in wholesale energy costs, which has pushed the average price of wholesale energy up 30% since November.
Other suppliers are widely expected to follow Scottish Power's lead over the coming weeks. All of the big six companies raised their prices over the winter and another wave of hikes is currently expected as wholesale energy costs continue to rise.

In a major boost for the Coalition, the International Monetary Fund backed the Chancellor’s ‘essential’ deficit-busting plans and rejected calls for a Plan B. The IMF repudiated Labour’s claims that Mr Osborne should abandon his spending cuts, saying ‘temporary tax cuts’ would provide a quicker and more credible boost to the economy.
He is on course to hit his target by 2014, but made clear the Government is only committed to eradicate the deficit by 2015. If there is money left over, it has long been expected Mr Osborne could deliver tax cuts in time for the next election.

Activists Using Qik To Salvage Videos After Police Confiscate Cameras
As police continue to blatantly steal and destroy cameras from citizens without any legal authority whatsoever, it is essential to store our video footage online so it can accessed regardless of what happens to our cameras. At this time, the most popular method to do this is through the Qik mobile phone application. I personally have never used it because I tend not to use my phone for video recording, but I am going to download the app because it seems that police are getting bolder about stealing our cameras.
Just this week, we've had at least three incidents, including the one from Miami Beach on Monday, the one in Broward County on Thursday and one from this weekend in Manchester, New Hampshire. Fortunately, the last victim was using the Qik app when police walked up to her and demanded her phone as "evidence," even though they had no legal right to do so. The incident can be seen beginning at 12:30 in the video below where Antigone Darling is recording the aftermath of a protest against police in which eight activists were arrested. She is actually walking away from police who chase her down and steal her phone.

How many disasters like the massive poisoning of the Gulf of Mexico, or gushing of radiation from multiple reactor-core meltdowns in Japan can the biosphere take? Or, perhaps a more apropos question is: How much more profit will the biosphere survive?
Two things the catastrophes in the Gulf and at Fukushima have in common is that both were at the hands of corporations, and both involved extensive disinformation, misinformation, and severe suppression of information. Just like governments, which are virtually all corporate “assets”, corporations themselves shun the light of day.
Dangerous creatures, corporations, obviously one of the deadliest things ever sprouted from hell. Of course they are not creatures in any biological sense, but thanks to corporate chicanery beginning in 1886 especially, they have more rights than you do.
