For a long time I admit I did not take a great deal of interest in media accounts of ‘Airmiles Andy’ gallivanting around the world in his role as our unpaid trade envoy. Maybe he did rub shoulders with some odd-looking fellows, and associate with strange ladies, but there seemed to be more important issues in the world about which to get worked up.
But the recent spate of stories can hardly be ignored. They concern Prince Andrew’s friendship with a convicted American billionaire child sex offender and his links to a convicted Libyan gun smuggler, as well as to the Gaddafi regime.

Libya No-Fly Zone Would Require Bombing Raids: US
'Enforcing a no-fly zone over Libya would first require bombing the north African nation's air defense systems, top US commander General James Mattis warned Tuesday.
A no-fly zone would require removing "the air defense capability first," Mattis, the head of Central Command, told a Senate hearing. "It would be a military operation," the general said.'

Libya: US Sending Marines, Naval Units For 'Humanitarian' Aid In Libya
WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said Tuesday he was dispatching two warships and 400 Marines as a humanitarian response to the crisis in Libya, but he cautioned that U.S. military intervention should be carefully considered.
"The kinds of options that have been talked about in the press and elsewhere also have their own consequences," Gates said on Tuesday, referring to calls for a no-fly zone and other possible steps to halt attacks by Moammar Kadafi's forces on rebels. "They need to be considered very carefully."
Gates and Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, said at a Pentagon news briefing that the Defense Department was examining a wide range of military options but said no decision had been made on executing any of them.

Flor Medrano, 30, was killed by her ex-boyfriend after she went to police because he had threatened to kill her. Daniel Carlon, 23, stabbed Flor in the chest with a foot-long blade, puncturing her heart and a lung before being shot dead by the police officers who were unable to get into the house.

The United States, Britain and France have sent several hundred “defence advisors” to train and support the anti-Gadhafi forces in oil-rich Eastern Libya where “rebels armed groups” have apparently taken over.
According to an exclusive report confirmed by a Libyan diplomat in the region “the three Western states have landed their “special forces troops in Cyrinacia and are now setting up their bases and training centres” to reinforce the rebel forces who are resisting pro-Qaddafi forces in several adjoining areas.
A Libyan official who requested not to be identified said that the U.S. and British military gurus were sent on February 23 and 24 night through American and French warships and small naval boats off Libyan ports of Benghazi and Tobruk.
