Mole Special: A Stranger in My Own Land

I have just returned to London, where I have lived since I was 11. I have been away for four years, living as an ethnic minority in a monocultural part of the world, amassing a host of stories to tell to disbelieving friends. On the whole, I am glad to return. I will also not miss the way our garden acted as the local rubbish dump, with items ranging from duvets and TV sets, to rats (dead or twitching) glued to cardboard strips, a popular local method of vermin control to stem the large numbers of them which scuttled between the rubbish piled in gardens and on pavements. Yes, I am very glad to have left Britain's second city.

Global warming is dead, let's move on

WE did it. For once, we acted collectively, as humans, huddled together on a fragile planet, rather than as selfish individuals. And we did it: we beat global warming.

So now let's move on.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, 2010 was Australia's coldest year since 2001. Since logic tells us the planet can't be getting hotter and colder at the same time, we can confidently pronounce global warming dead, buried and comprehensively beaten.

This victory happened because individuals pulled together, within nations, and then the nations of the world themselves pulled together. Meetings were held in places such Kyoto. Rousing speeches were made by world leaders. People clapped and felt good about themselves. Documents were signed. Clearly, with each meeting, each speech, each inked treaty, global warming was pushed back.

Here in Australia, we also did our bit, big time. We declared global warming the great moral challenge of our generation. We talked confidently about doing something or other. (OK, I can't remember what it was, and we never actually did it, but then we talked about doing something different . . . though maybe not straight away.)

Anyway, it worked, because last year was the coldest year since 2001.

Study: Many college students not learning to think critically

NEW YORK — An unprecedented study that followed several thousand undergraduates through four years of college found that large numbers didn't learn the critical thinking, complex reasoning and written communication skills that are widely assumed to be at the core of a college education.

Many of the students graduated without knowing how to sift fact from opinion, make a clear written argument or objectively review conflicting reports of a situation or event, according to New York University sociologist Richard Arum, lead author of the study. The students, for example, couldn't determine the cause of an increase in neighborhood crime or how best to respond without being swayed by emotional testimony and political spin.

In 1941, Friedrich Wilhelm Euler, Nazi Germany's leading expert on Jewish genealogy, published a lengthy article entitled "The Penetration of Jewish Blood into the English Upper Class."

Euler asked how modern Britain became the "protecting power of Jewry" despite the relatively small size of the Jewish community there.

Police Seeks Intelligence on UK Protests

Prices rose 1 per cent between November and December - the biggest month-on-month rise since records began in 1996, the Office for National Statistics said. The wider retail prices index, which includes housing costs, also rose 0.1 per cent to 4.8 per cent in December, the figures revealed.

30,000 pupils branded as bigots: Teachers log 'racist' and 'homophobic' jibes in playground squabbles, even at nursery

More than 10,000 primary school pupils in a single year have been labelled racist or homophobic over minor squabbles.

Even toddlers in nursery classes are being penalised for so-called hate crimes such as using the words ‘white trash’ or ‘gaylord’. Schools are forced to report their language to education authorities, which keep a register of incidents.

This leads to at least 30,000 primary and secondary pupils per year being effectively classed as bigots because of anti-bullying rules. The school can also keep the pupil’s name and ‘offence’ on file. The record can be passed from primaries to secondaries or when a pupil moves between schools at the request of the new head.

And if schools are asked for a pupil reference by a future employer or a university, the record could be used as the basis for it, meaning the pettiest of incidents has the potential to blight a child for life. Figures for the year 2008-9 were obtained under the Freedom of Information Act by the civil liberties group, the Manifesto Club.

They show 29,659 racist incidents reported by schools to local education authorities in England and Wales. Of these, 10,436 were at primary schools and 41 at nursery schools.

Peter and Hazelmary Bull were breaking the law when they denied Martyn Hall and his civil partner Steven Preddy a room at their hotel in Cornwall in September 2008. Judge Andrew Rutherford made the ruling in a written judgment at Bristol County Court as he awarded the couple £1,800 each in damages.

Mr Hall and Mr Preddy, from Bristol, were seeking up to £5,000 damages claiming sexual orientation discrimination under the Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2007. At a hearing last month, the Bulls denied the claim, saying they have a long-standing policy of banning all unmarried couples both heterosexual and gay from sharing a bed at the Chymorvah Private Hotel in Marazion near Penzance.

An article in USA Today claims that “both blacks and Hispanics were twice as likely as whites to have performed heroic deeds.” The source for the claim is a Philip Zimbardo, a professor emeritus at Stanford University.

He backs up this claim by saying that blacks and Hispanics are better heroes because they are “discriminated against.” They become heroes by “standing up to discrimination.” Then he follows by saying blacks and Hispanics have “more compassion to others in need.”

According to Zimbardo, these white volunteers rescuing Haitians don’t know what being a real hero is. They have never been discriminated against by the evil white man. I guess that is why so few black Americans volunteered to go to Haiti. They were all too busy being heroes by standing up to the white man’s “discrimination” in the United States.

The entire article is nothing more than a vicious slur against white people. This Philip Zimbardo is a fanatical leftist who claims it is discrimination for a landlord not to let someone squat in his apartment for free.

Food Riots 2011 – Here We Go

In Tunisia, more than 100 people have been killed and the president of that country actually had to flee for his life.  But on a global scale, food shortages have not even gotten that bad yet.  Yes, food prices are starting to go up and food supplies are a little bit tighter right now, but much worse times than these are coming.  So what in the world are the cities of the world going to look like when we have a very serious food shortage?

'Stuxnet, US-Israeli Bid Against Iran'

'Intelligence services of Israel and the United States have collaborated in developing a malicious malware known as Stuxnet computer worm aimed at disrupting Iran's nuclear program.

The New York Times reported on Saturday that Israel has tested the effectiveness of the Stuxnet computer worm at its nuclear facility in Dimona complex in the Negev desert before releasing it. The report quoted intelligence and military experts and officials as saying the effort to create Stuxnet computer worm was a joint US-Israeli project that also involved collaborations by Britain and Germany.

"To check out the worm, you have to know the machines," a US expert told the newspaper.'

£210 A YEAR RISE IN PETROL BILLS

DAVID Cameron last night faced growing demands to axe plans for a 1p hike in fuel duty – or risk damaging the economy as Britain suffers soaring petrol prices.

With the average price now at 128.1p a litre (£5.81 per gallon), the AA yesterday urged an immediate duty cut and angry truckers threatened fuel protests to make ministers see sense.

Petrol retailers have predicted that plans for a new 1p a litre hike in duty in April will take petrol to 136p a litre (£6.17 a gallon) by Easter.That would slap another £210 a year on the petrol bill of a family with two cars.

One of the leaders of the last major fuel price demonstration 11 years ago, Andrew Spence, warned of a repeat of the actions which nearly brought Britain to a standstill.

The haulier from Consett, County Durham, and a leading member of the People’s Fuel Lobby, warned: “The Government has three weeks to reduce fuel duty or protests will resume. We are calling on the nation to support us.” The haulage industry warned that firms need help today – or risk going out of business tomorrow.

There were also reports of workers giving up their jobs because they cannot afford the cost of commuting due to high fuel prices. And it is likely to get worse.

This could be enough to repeat her father's exploit of April 2002 and put her into the second-round run-off next May, against either President Nicolas Sarkozy or an as yet unknown candidate of the centre-left.
